Scott Pilgrim vs. the World add-on pack coming soon

Nice timing there, Ubisoft. To go alongside this week’s release ofScott Pilgrim vs. the Worldon DVD and Blu-ray, the beat-’em-up game counterpart is getting some fresh add-on content. For $2, you’re getting Knives Chau as a playbable character, the Battle Royale and Dodge Ball modes, plus there’s a separate — and totally free — patch that introduces drop-in co-op and fixes bugs. It’s weird how we have reached the point where two-dollar digital content seems strangely cheap....

Sonic convention: SonicCon 2010

I…I feel like I could just sit back and let this one take care of itself. I could say all the obvious things and run all the obvious header images. Furry references? Sure. Cosplay fail? Yeah, of course. But this just seems to assume that you’d think that automatically, so I don’t even need to bother. I’m not going to be that guy. This year a Sonic the Hedgehog themed convention will be held in Plano, Texas....

Sonic Generations ‘City Escape’ screens

Here are a bunch of screenshots forSonic Generations. Don’t get too excited — they’re for the “City Escape” level which we already knew about. In fact, some of these screens aren’t new at all (they’re in the preview I just linked, actually), so I don’t know why they were sent out. Naturally, I am too lazy to sort out the new screens from the old ones, so I’ve just posted them in their entirety for completions sake....

Sony hires company to recycle PSOne cases

Who doesn’t want a chair or a pen created from a PSOne? Sony Computer Entertainment Europe has contracted a UK-based company by the name of Electronic Waste Company to potentially recycle several hundred thousand PSOne cases and turn them into household objects like chairs or even pens. The idea behind this move is brilliant. As it stands now, SCEE is sitting on top of at least 300,000 PSOne cases in their repair center, and that’s probably a few too many than what is needed....

Sony to lock out other operating systems in firmware

One of the more interesting choices Sony made available for PS3 owners, the ability to install an operating system other than the console standard, looks like it’s about to go out the window. While PS3 Slim users have never had the opportunity to install a different OS, even older systems will have the capability disabled, according to the Official PlayStation Blog. Security concerns have been cited as the reason. The change goes down with firmware update 3....

Sony to show off the PS3 wand thingy at GDC

It’s the ball on a stick. The wand thingy. The “Arc.” Whatever it is, Sony is going to show it it off at PS3 at next month’sGame Developers Conference. In an hour-long presentation called“Introducing the PlayStation 3 Motion Controller,” SCEA’s Platform Research Manager David Coombes and Kirk Bender will show off the tech publicly at the conference on March 11th, the first proper showing since last year’s E3. I think it would be in Sony’s best interest to show off actual games and not just tech demos this time around....

Spider-man Negative Zone costume in Shattered Dimensions

So, this costume of Spider-Man’s was acquired in the Negative Zone where it’s former owner was a rebel leader named Dusk. Spider-Man assumed the identity of Dusk as an icon to help the rebels and then took it back with him where he would later don it as one of four alternate identities that allowed him to keep fighting crime when framed by Norman Osborne and the Trapster. Apparently it makes him pretty much invisible or something and you’ll be able to make him wear it inSpider-Man: Shattered Dimensions....

Swagtacular: Unboxing Two Worlds II: Royal Edition

On today’s Swagtacular, I get to do my very first special edition unboxing! I’ve never gotten to do one of these before, so this was a lot of fun. Of course, since I can’t ever do anything properly, things go a bit … spicy … towards the end. In fact … I’m sorry. I’m very sorry. In this episode, I ruined videogames for everybody.

Speaking with Famitsu, Team Ninja head Yosuke Hayashi gave an update on a few of the studio’s missing projects and, of course,Ninja Gaiden 3. He revealed that theDoAprequel,Dead or Alive Code Cronus, has been scrapped, as hasProject Progressive, a game I have no memory of whatsoever. As for brighter (and bloodier) news,Ninja Gaiden 3is still progressing along nicely. “We’ve already completed an internal prototype,” says Hayashi. “We held a sampling event for the prototype, and it was well received within the company....
