Call of Duty 4— the latest in Infinity Ward’s war-as-interactive-cinema series — has recieved the public trailer treatment thanks to E3, and you can catch the whole thing in the above clip.It’s refreshing to see that not only are they abandoning the overused WWII backdrop in favor of modern warfare, but they’re also not jumping into the one-game-away-from-cliché Middle Eastern conflict setting. Placing the entire thing in neo-Cold-War climes gives it an air of creativity, and fills me with the urge to watchRed Dawn....

Microsoft has been pretty quiet in the run to E3, and it was speculated (by me) that we’d get a lame press conference from the Xbox 360 maker, for the third straight year. According to the list of games it’s due to announce, the speculation is dead-on. Like last year, Kinect seems set to be the main focus, with at least three of the five titles being connected to the devices (and XCommerce is likely going to involve it too, whatever that is)....

EA Sports has announced that its first title for Nintendo’s 3D handheld, the 3DS, will beMadden NFL Football. The game will be available as a launch title for the platform, which will presumably hit North American shelves during the first half of 2011. EA is calling it a “comprehensive handheld experience,” complete with 11-on-11 and 5-on-5 games, and a full season mode. The handheld’s 3D capabilities will be pushed with modes like “Spotlight Moments” and “Call Your Shots....
