After the long-time Internet rumblings and the fairly recent trademark, it should come as little to no surprise thatAlice: Madness Returnsis coming to PC, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360, as revealed during today’s EA Studio Showcase. Based on what has been shown so far, those wanting more from the twisted world of Wonderland are in for a treat. Look at that screenshot up there! Look at it! Accompanying the announcement was a teaser in which blood gushed from Alice’s mouth and her teeth fell out....

If you graduated from the “School of Messing Big Bugs Up With Big Guns N’ S**t,” great news —Earth Defense Force: Insect Armageddonis now gold. The game is slated for a July 5 release on both Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, and is all about messing big bugs up with bigs guns n’ st. This time with two friends, as the game supports three-player messing big bugs up with big guns n’ st cooperative play....

I didn’t know crap about Buzz! until I was sent a copy awhile back. Turns out it’s a pretty good party game, played with other people. That makes sense, as that’s probably what it was made for. It was a PS2 game (that’s how long ago it was), but it looks like there’s a new PS3 Buzz! game coming. The ESRB has a listing for something calledBuzz! Quiz Player. Thedescriptionmakes it sound like…well, it sounds like all the other Buzz!...

EVE Onlineis a pretty unique game. It and its unified, always-on player base manage to do things in their gameworld that few MMOs, nay, fewgamesbarely conceive. It’s intimidating as all hell, but damn if it isn’t fascinating. Just like their latest way of helping Japan out in the wake of the massive earthquake. Rather than asking their players to donate boring-ol’ money through external sources, developer CCP Games has found a way to take advantage ofEVE‘s fully-fledged in-game economy, by accepting donations of PLEX, the real-world value of which is converted into cash and donated to the Red Cross....

Outside of my scheduled time with Capcom representatives, I also had a chance to wander around the show floor and interview several attendees. The first interview was with Alex Valle, also known as “Mr. Street Fighter.” Long before the big names that we hear about today, he was making himself known in the tournament scene. A couple days ago, I received an email asking me if I wanted to check out Other Ocean’s studios, where they’re currently working on a game based onThe War of the Worlds. The email noted two very specific things: first, this game has nothing to do with the Tom Cruise movie of the same name, other than being based on the same source material. I’m pretty sure everyone’s sick of Tom Cruise these days, so that’s good....

Speaking at theDevelop Conferencein Brighton, UK, Peter Molyneux acknowledged that he is not only aware of a need to simplify complex game controls to reach a wider audience, but he and the team at Lionhead Studios are hard at work making it a reality forFable 2. How he is going to go about offering a deep, sophisticated combat model that relies on a single button to accomplish is going to be interesting, to say the least....

Namco Bandai sent some new screens for the upcoming console versions ofTekken 6, and as promised, that includes images of a fat dude punching a kangaroo in the face. This confirms a few things, most of which we already knew. One, Bob — the “fat dude” — will be in the game. The kangaroo, Roger Jr., is also making appearance. They’ll be joining Miguel, Zafina, Armor King, and Raven, also pictured in these new images....

Remember howCall of Duty: World at WarPC players got the map “Makin Day” for freeearlier this month? Yeah, well now it’s your turn, console owners. As you may clearly see above, Makin Day is like the map Makin, but you can actually see what’s going on thanks to the added sunlight. Additionally, “some paths and cover have been modified,” although the announcement didn’t go into specifics. PlayStation 3 owners can get the map as a part of a new patch, while Xbox 360 players will have to grab it from the Xbox LIVE Marketplace, because it’s apparently not included in the title update....

Atheistium made me aware of this rather excellent little test cartoon and I found it worthy enough to post on our highly prestigious Games of the Week column, the weekly post that literallyeveryoneis clamoring to be featured on.
