Calling all creative types: EA Montreal is putting on a second weapondesign contest, this time forArmy of Two: The 40th Day. Starting today, users can submit an image of their original weapon to be implemented into “a future EA game” along with a short description of said weapon. From there, theArmy of Twocommunity will vote on their favorites, and then the developers ofThe 40th Daywill choose one winner from North America, and one from Europe....

Today, Konami officially announced thatEledees: The Adventures of Kai and Zerofor the Nintendo DS will be released in Europe this winter. The subtitle of the game should familiar to those in the US waiting for the next Elebits incarnation.Elebitswas changed toEledeesin Europe to sound more like the word “LED,” because everyone knows that Europeans love LED lights and other flashing things. TheGame Career Guideshows us the results ofGame Developer’ssixth annual survey of game industry salaries. There’sseven pagesof results and bar graphs for you to go through, but here are the highlights: While programmers had the highest average pay, that came only after some years of experience were put under their belts. Producers had the highest pay and bonuses, but the average pay comes out to a bit less than programmers. Artists and animators make a bit less than the rest of the guys, but those with even less than 3 years experience are still pulling in a respectable average of over $42,000....

More goodness out of Sony Gamer’s Day 2009 in the form of screenshots showing off a new stage forFat Princess. The level is named “Sugar Cove” and features two shipwrecked vessels around a deserted island. One thing I found particularly charming about this level are the rope bridges which retract when nobody from your team is standing near them but pop right back out should someone authorized to cross need to do so....

Last week, we provided a series of interview stories for Frozen North Productions’Flip’s Twisted World, a cool looking nostalgic platform game that caught my eye, even though other blogs never seemed to talk about it. The chaps at Frozen North appreciated the coverage, and have thanked Destructoid by drawing up this rather cool image of the game’s main character, Flip, wearing a Mr. Dtoid helmet. Here’s a neat little game that’s come from nowhere! Sony has just revealed thatFreekscape: Escape From Hellis hitting the PlayStation Network this week, and it looks really cool for a mere $4.99! Freekscapeis a cartoony platform game about a demon who finds a magical trident and, as the subtitle suggests, uses it in an attempt to escape from Hell. The trident allows Freek the demon to transform monsters into useful tools such as a pogo stick or cutting machines....
