TGS: Record attendance on first day of show: 86,200

Man, I knew it was hot and crowded this year, but it turns out that the first show day was the hottest and most crowded ever in the show’s history! CESA says that 86,200 sweaty attendees packed into the Makuhari Messe convention center for the first public day of Tokyo Game Show, September 17. This beats out the last record day back in 2006, where more than 84,000 showed up. I bet the air conditioner was working better that day....

The Daily Hotness: Forza 4 is fetish fuel

So, Dale reviewedForza Motorsports 4and gave it a 10. I played the demo and I have to say I am thoroughly impressed. I’ve never really been into racing sims. I tend to like games where I can be going 250mph in one direction then do a 180 and be up to speed all in less than five seconds (seeBurnout Paradise). Still, I found theForzademo to be exhaust-ingly sexy. In other news… Niero got a new phone,Eufloriagot reviewed, and Nintendo is making the 3DS in some new pansy-ass color....

The only Swarm trailer you will ever need to watch

Here is the European launch trailer forSwarmto feast on. Apparently it doesn’t portray children in a very politically correct manner, as the trailer has supposedly been banned by the ESRB for the U.S. market. I don’t really understand why, as it merely portrays the inherently evil nature of children in their natural habitat; tabula rasa be damned. Get those little Damiens the hell off my lawn! Swarmlooks like an awesome game forPikminandOverlordfans, and should be out March 23rd on XBLA and March 30th on PSN....

The only TV Wiimotes can’t break

I’d like to see one of you Wii gamers have enough accuracy to hit this tiny television during Wii Sports, let alone even play on it. This guy’s 1.5 inch TV is so small that it makes the Nintendo Wii next to it look like your worst PS4 nightmares. HD or not, I’d hate to game on this entertainment system, but if you want a zoomed out video showing how hard it would be to actually play games on it, then you can check out pekingdbz’sother video....

The PC Gaming Alliance’s view on piracy isn’t as bleak as others

Anyone involved in PC gaming knows that piracy of games is rampant, and this has developers running scared. Ubisoft recently said that they wouldn’t release the PC version ofTom Clancy’s EndWarat the same time as the console versions as they feared that piracy of the PC version would hurt sales of its console counterparts. Not a good sign, folks. Randy Stude, president of the PC Gaming Alliance, does not seem to share the bleak outlook of PC gaming that others have....

The president of Nintendo of America says weird things

I’m reaching out to you guys here. Does any of this stuff make any sense? Help me work this out. First, we haveReggie’s comments onMetroid: Other M. He “… believe(s) that it (Metroid: Other M) could be, should be a million unit title. We’re not going to get there, not through the holiday.” He goes on to say that he and Nintendo of Japan are still trying to puzzle out whyOther Mdidn’t sell better....

To celebrate this milestone, we here at Destructoid picked the best fifty games of the last ten years (the best of the ’00s!). The Wii is just not Epic’s ‘thing’

Epic’s Mark Rein has said that the Wiiisn’t his company’s medium, and asking the studio to develop games for Nintendo’s little white waggle box is akin to asking a sculptor to paint. “No, we don’t have any plans to make something for the Wii. That’s like asking a sculptor when he’s going to start painting. That’s just not our medium,” stated Rein, reiterating what I just said above (which he didn’t have to do for me, but thanks)....

Treyarch now a 100 percent Call of Duty company

I’m pretty sure that I will be the only person in the world who sees this as bad news, but Treyarch’scompany head, Mark Lamia, has toldCVGthat Treyarch is a “100 percentCall of Duty” studio. They’re no longer developing other games and have all of their teams focusing onCall of Duty, which is letting multiplayer have its own team for the first time in Treyarch’s history of the series. “Treyarch is a 100 per cent Call of Duty studio – and it has been for a long time now, long before any of [the Infinity Ward] events occurred,” Lamia said....

Ubisoft: Only triple-A games are profitable

Ubisoft Europe MD Alain Corre: “The games that are not triple-A are not profitable anymore.” That’s hard for me to hear. It seems that it’s safer for the publisher to put their money into AAA titles rather than test the waters on smaller projects. “When you have a triple-A blockbuster it costs more money to develop, but at the end of the day there’s also the chance of a good return on it because there’s a concentration at the top of the charts....

Virtua Tennis 3: Worst next-gen necks?

You know, when I first saw that screenshot you see below for this PlayStation 3 version ofVirtua Tennis 3, I thought it was just an error. That maybe someone had photoshopped something or maybe that it was just an early build. But, after watching this latest trailer, I’m beginning to think that this game has some of the worst looking necks I’ve ever seen in video games — at least current ones....
