TheNintendo 3DSisn’t even on shelves yet in North America, but Nintendo has already issued a system update today.

In what may be the weirdest system update ever, it simply ads the ability to watch the OK Go music video “White Knuckles” in 3D. After the update is complete, the system reboots and you’ll find a “3D movie” icon on your home screen. This isn’t a dedicated 3D player or anything, it simply launches the OK Go music video.

According to the video’s director, it was originally shot for both 2D and 3D, and admittedly looks neat on the 3DS screen. That said, I can’t find a way to delete the video from my home screen now that it’s there. I’m not particularly concerned about it, but for those who like to keep things “tidy,” have fun with that.

Nintendo also claims that the update “also enhances the communication features of the Nintendo 3DS system,” but doesn’t get specific. I poked around the handheld and I can’t see any other differences, at least any that are noticeable. Except for that music video, of course.
