If you’ve received a promotional code from a game publisher to download an app from Apple’s App Store, you can no longer rate that download. An Apple support email posted on the Touch Arcade fourms states: “It is no longer possible to rate or review an app if it was downloaded using a developer’s promotional code.”

We’re withGamesindustry.bizin thinking that this is part of an effort to clean up the ratings system on the App Store. Those given free apps via promo code may be inclined to give the app a more positive review. This would put a stop to any funny business like that. App ratings would come solely from paying customers, which makes sense.
