EA calls the game a combination ofBattlefield 2andBad Company 2, with the most popular maps from the former and the classes and weapons of the latter. Expect some kind of link betweenPlay4Free,Battlefield Heroes(which is also free to play) and the upcomingBattlefield 3.

What’s the catch? Well, microtransactions of course, although EA is quiet on the specifics. But from what we can tell, the core experience won’t cost you a cent, so that’s the good news. Expect it to be go wide in spring of 2011.
