As of two minutes ago Bethesda are only willing to offer downloadable content for the PC and Xbox 360 versions ofFallout 3. While not the traditional sort of exclusivity, consumers are more than aware that “exclusive”doesn’t carry the same weight that it used to. According to Pete Hines in anMTVMultiplayerinterview, PlayStation 3 fans need not worry about the lack of support. He contends that there is plenty ofFallout 3to go around without DLC.
From the interview:
For us, with a game that offers 100 hours of gameplay, we don’t feel like we’re sort of short changing you [PS3 owners] up front. You’re gonna get your $60 worth out of this game, no matter what platform you buy it for, because there is so much content and so much stuff to do. And you’re able to replay it and have it play out differently. So I think we feel pretty confident in terms of, no matter which platform you choose, you’re getting a good experience that will hopefully be one of the best, if not the best game you play this year on that platform.
While releasing a game that is actually worth the price tag is a noble concept, Hines conceded that if consumers were hard pressed for the optional content then negotiating between the PC and Xbox 360 versions was certainly a better option. That is, if you have that option.
