After interviewing three-man development team Gaijin Games atE3 09, I’ve been lucky enough to get periodic emails from the guys about their projects, their thoughts on various stuff, and whatever. It sometimes blows my mind that I get to treat people who I consider to be some of the most talented, interesting artists going today, like they are “just some guys I email funny cat pictures to,” but there you go; being a game blogger is totally awesome.

As nice as it all is, any contact with game devs is risky business. For example, I may have overstepped my bounds a bit today. When asking Alex Neuse (Gaijin Games CEO) about two mysterious pics that recently popped up on theGaijin Gameshomepage, one of alow-res rendition of Meat Boy, and another of agiant fanwith a TV and framed artwork above it, I got this as a response:

Now where’s the Tron Knotts that I know and love? There’s more to that fan picture than you seem to have discovered. I refuse to comment on anything else until you redeem yourself. End of line.

END OF LINE?!?!?! SH*T!! It doesn’t get much more serious than that! If I’m going to get on Alex’s good side again, I better figure these pics out.

The Meat Boy pic most definitely relates to Bit.Trip hero Commander Video’sscheduled appearance inSuper Meat Boy, but it could mean something more, right? As for the fan pic, the “black circle on blue” image on the TV certainly looks like it relates to the “blue circle on black” artwork above it, and perhaps that very Bit.Trip-looking image to the lover left of the big fan has something to do with… something, but that’s all I got. My only other lead is that Alex recently told me that the next Bit.Trip game is “…turning out to be quite tubular. Even radical.” Is that code for something? Radical tubes in the next Bit.Trip confirmed?
