Activision really wants you to buyGuitar Hero 5, and it wants to give youGuitar Hero: Van Halen… for free. Before it’s even on store shelves.

The publisherhas announced a ridiculous offer— buy specially-marked copies ofGuitar Hero 5in September, and it’ll send you an advanced copy ofGuitar Hero: Van Halen. The catch here is that this is a mail-in offer, and you’ll have to wait up to six weeks to receive your copy ofGuitar Hero: Van Halen. But considering that game isn’t set to hit shelves until December 22, you should quiet your whining.

There’s no doubt that this is a fantastic deal, but it does call into question the quality ofGuitar Hero: Van Halen. Not only have Activision been quiet on the game for long after its official announcement prior to E3, but now they’re giving it away for free. This should be interesting.
