Fire up the petition cannons —PC Gamerhas gone hands-on with Ubisoft’s new DRM system that will ship alongside the publisher’s future PC games, andit’s redonkulous.
As already widely known, the DRMrequires an Internet connectionto even boot up Ubisoft’s titles, including the upcoming PCAssassin’s Creed IIrelease as well asSettlers 7. But here’s where it gets amazing — if your net connection drops mid-game, you’ll be booted out of your play session, losing all unsaved progress since the game’s last checkpoint or your most recent manual save.

To repeat:You will get kicked out of your game. AsPC Gamerpoints out, this would also apply if something wonky happened with Ubisoft’s servers. Connection lost? Kicked out of your game. Local ISP has a temporary outage? Booted out of your game. Cat accidentally knocks over your modem? Hey, you were done playing anyhow, right?
PC Gamerhas more details. So, uh, hey… what do you guys think?
