As the creative director of Ubisoft Montreal, andAssassin’s CreedandPrince of Persia: The Sands of Time, Patrice Désilets is a big deal for the company. Or, he at leastwasa big deal, as announcing today, courtesy ofGame Informer, Patrice Désilets will be leaving the company to pursue a “creative break from the industry”. It looks like he’s gone from the company, gone fromAssassin’s Creed: Brotherhood, and pretty much gone from the industry, by the sounds of it.
Of course, this could all be some corporate mumbo jumbo. Clearly Désilets is a capable and integral member of the development team at Ubisoft Montreal, and as gameinformer pointed out, the loss ofFar Cry 2’sCreative Director, Clint Hocking and producer Jade Raymond to Ubisoft Toronto shows that something is going on with Ubisoft Montreal. I honestly wouldn’t be surprised if he transfers off to another company in a year or two, and hopefully futurePrince of PersiaandAssassin’s Creedgames won’t feel the heat once the next dev cycle rolls around. We’ll see.
