Crytek is proud of the 3D visuals inCrysis 2. So much so, in fact, that the studio has compared its work toJames Cameron Presents James Cameron’s Avatar In Association With James Cameron.

“There was one project we developed exclusively in stereoscopic 3D — and we started that two-and-a-half years ago,” he told the mag. “It was designed to be only possible in 3D, so we asked what it’d take to make that,” says CEO Cevat Yerli inEdgemagazine. “So we’ve done a lot of research into 3D experiences, the UI and whatnot. And a lot of this knowledge is now in theCrysis 23D experience. That’s why we have, in my opinion, a benchmark 3D implementation.

“I’ll even claim it’s the same asAvatar‘s status in 3D. James Cameron has seenCrysis 2, and he loved what he saw because his eyes are trained for 3D more than anyone else’s, and that makes me confident that we have a super-high-end 3D experience on all formats.”

Absolutely fantastic news to people with two eyes, who don’t need real glasses, aren’t prone to headaches and have a 3D television. I sure hope there’s some gameplay under all that 3D for the rest of us.
