Sonyhas announcedthat an open beta forKillzone 3is going to hit the PlayStation Network on February 3. That’s pretty awesome, right? Well, only until you remember thatthe game went gold last week. As in, it’sfinished, with no more development due between now and launch.
For whatever reason, publishers have been allergic to the word “demo”, as if it’s somehow dirty. I guess “beta test” sounds more important and flashy. Unfortunately, it’s complete and utter bollocks.Killzone 3isn’t being beta tested. It’s a multiplayer demo.

TheDEMOincludes the ‘Frozen Dam’ multiplayer map and four game modes — Guerrilla Warfare, Warzone, Operations and the offline Botzone mode. It’s not a beta test. Even if you argue that they’re “testing” the online connection and matchmaking, that’s not a beta test. It’s a stress test (which should have happened before going gold) atbest, but only a chump would think this is anything more than publicity. Hence, not a demo.
Inane buzz words are for children. Please grow up, publishers. I am still looking forward toKillzone 3though, thanks!
