Over the past few weeks Ubisoft has been heavily teasingSplinter Cell Conviction— a welcome change from the past few years when Ubisoft went dark with the title. A few minutes agoConvictionwas shown at Microsoft’s E3 press conference and it was beautiful to see and to finally get some solid details and a release date. (It’s due out this fall).

The game’s story revolves around an ancient Sam Fisher and his attempt to find the men who abducted his daughter. And needless to say, he’s not happy about her disappearance. In the small walkthrough given at the conference, we were shown a super produced trailer showing Fisher interrogating a thug in an ugly bathroom. (Interrogating as in smashing his head into stuff and choking him).

Environments in the game were presented as mini sandboxes. Apparently, you’ll have larger areas to run around in and explore before infiltrating a residence. There will also be more options — in the demo Ubisoft chose to smash down a door and go into a place guns blazing instead of the usual stealth tactics employed in all the previousSplinter Celltitles.

Also, Fisher doesn’t look so emo anymore. He’s a jacked up dude, pissed about his daughter’s disappearance. Thanks, Ubisoft.
