When weinterviewed ESA president Michael Gallagher, he told us that the “old E3” would be back in some form. This was welcome news after the craptastic last couple of years we’ve attended.

I remember taking a quick break with my lovely co-worker,Colette Bennett, at last year’s E3 event after days of being run ragged. At that point, we had come to the conclusion that we were actuallyangryfor having to be at that event, and that if things continued this way, we didn’t want to come back.  It was that bad. And that’s sad, as E3 used to be good times.

It sounds like things are headed back to being a proper games event, especially after seeing who is on-board for 2009. Remember how Activision bowed out last year? Now they’re at the top of the list of exhibitors on this press release. And while that’s probably because it’s in alphabetical order, it still looks good for E3. Nintendo, Sony, and Microsoft are all there. My boys at Atlus are there. Big dogs Capcom, Ubisoft, and EA are all in the house. Nice comeback, E3! I hope you weren’t lying about the booth babes thing!

Check out the full list after the jump.

We’re looking forward to this event again. If everything goes asGallaghersaid it would, E3 should be pretty good times this year.
