Electronic Arts CEO John Riccitiello may have failed in his plan to acquire Take-Two and capitalize on the success ofGrand Theft Auto IV, but hedoesn’t seem to regrettrying.

He called the whole thing “a waste of ink, primarily in theNew York Post” and said that EA chose to cease its pursuit of the company because quot;time was of the essence, because we wanted to impact holiday 2008 sales ofGrand Theft Auto IV.”

The best part of Riccitiello’s summary was the bit where he attempted to make it sound like EA was doing Take-Two a favor. The EA boss suggested that part of the reason for EA’s bid was “to help that company get through what has been an uneven profit experience.” Oh yes, Electronic Arts is full of Electronic Heart.

I must admit, I like Riccitiello. He can at times be very honest and frank, but he can also be a right smug bastard when he wants. I admire that in a man.
