If there’s one thing we could always afford to talk about more, it’s mods. Earlier today, I was greeted by an email message regarding a mod forCrysisandCrysis: WarheadcalledMechWarrior: Living Legends.
As some of you may know, I’ve never gotten into theMechWarriorseries, but it doesn’t take a dedicated fan to see that giant robots running around in gorgeous CryEngine 2-powered locales is a mighty good thing. The mod, whichWandering Samurai Studioshas been working on for more than two years now, recently got a new trailer.

The footage (viewable after the break) is all in-game and taken directly from pre-beta multiplayer playtests. It seems I wasn’t the only one impressed by what I saw — apparently, Crytek hiredMechWarrior: Living Legends‘ lead developers for their work on the project.
The mod, according to its creators, who call themselves “hardcore fans” of the classicMechWarriorgames, “features large scale combined arms mutliplayer gameplay” using “battlemechs, tanks, aerospace fighters, and battle-armor [from the]BattleTech/MechWarrioruniverse.”

Like I said,MechWarrioris a series that’s unfamiliar to me, so I’m going to nod my head agreeably.
