If you live in Japan, buyingFinal Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Echoes of Timewill score you a soundtrack sampler of past Final Fantasy themes. Pretty standard stuff, and barely worth posting about.

Now, if you buy theWii versionof the game, you get a happy-fun extraextrabonus. Each and everyEchoes of Timedisc contains a new trailer for the long-awaited Wii titleFinal Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: The Crystal Bearers. Keep in mind,Echoes of Timeis that new Final Fantasy game coming to both the DSandthe Wii that offers no visual upgrades between the two versions. So basically, if you buy the Wii’sEchoes of Time, you have to deal with DS-quality graphics while reaping none of the rewards of portability.

Square Enix must have sensed that consumers weren’t going to be too keen on that bargain, and as such have decided to throw this trailer at us in hopes of seducing the few suckers out there who were even remotely considering buying the “ugly-even-for-a-Wii-game” Wii rendition ofEchoes of Time. If I sound bitter, it’s because nowItotally have to buy the Wii rendition ofEchoes of Timebecause I can’t say no to those God damnCrystalBearsBearers.I’ve tried. I’ve looked at those partially transparent little bastards andtriedto say “NO,” but instead it just keeps coming out “…I love you.”

Both versions ofFinal Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Echoes of Timewill be released in Japan on May 19, 2025.
