I’m sure many of you were justifiably bummed when this week’s RetroforceGO!was canceled. Well, OverClocked ReMix has swooped in to rescue all you lonely retro fans — and people who were just in the mood for some good music — with the announcement that their fourteenth project album has just been released. The album is titled “Final Fantasy IV: Echoes of Betrayal, Light of Redemption” and features remixed music from, you guessed it,Final Fantasy IV. That’s a gamesome of you like, right?
As withpastalbums, “Echoes of Betrayal, Light of Redemption” is a collaboration by many of the top artists in the OC Remix community. Thistalented groupof individuals cooked up 46 arrangements that are divided into three story acts, along with another eight bonus tracks, that clock in at over three hours of music.
The story acts’ structure is quite cool: titled “Betrayal,” “Strife,” and “Redemption,” they contain songs arranged as you would hear them if you were actually playing through the game. And although it’s been a while since I’ve played throughFinal Fantasy IV(it was still known asFinal Fantasy IIthe last time I touched it), the memories started flooding back as I gave these remixes a listen; the whole work is a great fan-tribute to Nobuo Uematsu’s compositional skill.
