Final Fantasy VIIIhad perhaps the hardest job of any game ever released on the Sony PlayStation — it had to followFinal Fantasy VII. Despite being a very fine RPG in its own right, the comparisons toVIImade it something of a black sheep for many years following its release. It wasn’tVIII‘s fault, really. It’s simply that gamers were bound to make themselves disappointed no matterwhatthe nextFinal Fantasywas going to be.
Soon we will be able to relive those memories whenFinal Fantasy VIIIcomes to the PlayStation Network for use on the PS3 and PSP. The gamejust hitthe Japanese PlayStation Store for 1,500 Yen and, given the fact thatFF VIIcame to the West shortly after its JP release, we can hopefully expectVIIIto arrive sometime in the near future. That’s a very good thing.

So,Final Fantasy VIIIis on the way, or already here if you’re able to understand Moon Speak. Who’s excited? C’mon, admit thatVIIIreally is quite a good game, even with that silly “Draw” system.
