SeveralFinal Fantasy XIVtidbits have floated up to the top. It’s kind of like shabu-shabu. We’ve skimmed them off ofVG247for you, like you would the foamy scum:

First off, the upcoming PS3 and PC Square Enix MMO will have it’s own religion. Meditate on that. Game producer Hiromichi Tanaka said “It will have its own religion. It’ll be a really unique type of world.”  He hints that it will have both medieval and sci-fi elements, so you won’t be able to call it a game that takes place in the past or future. Weird.

Surnames will be introduced to help people make the transition from Final Fantasy XI to this new title: “We’re trying to find a way so people can transfer their names toFFXIV,” said Tanaka. “However, forFFXIwe had 32 worlds, and each character had to have a unique name in each world, so if they move to XIV there might be a conflict, so what we’re trying to introduce is surnames for the characters so people can keep their original names but add something else to it to make it more unique.”

Finally, everyone is pleased that series composer Nobuo Uematsu is coming back for a new score for this game, his first full score since Final FantasyIX.  Tanaka: “As he’s very busy, we didn’t expect him to do all of the music forFFXIV, but this time he kindly suggested that he would take care of the whole [score].”
