A few days ago we reported thatGran Turismo 5would be released by Christmas 2009 in the UK. Sony’s chief executive in southern Europe, James Armstrong, conveyed the release date to Spanish newspaperEl Financiero. It appears that the quote taken by the newspaper may have been misconstrued or Armstrong simply spoke out of place. In a recent response to aVideogamerinquiry, a Sony spokesperson conveyed that the release date couldn’t be ascertained at this point in the development process.

Polyphony are working on GT5, but we cannot confirm a launch date at this point in time.

It’s good to know that Polyphony are still on the case, but it makes us wonder what exactly is going on under the hood at the studio. Perhaps they are just waiting until the perfect time to throw up a trailer so amazing our brains will all simultaneously pop. Or perhaps they just work really slow.
