Bungie have to be tired ofHalo. Since breaking up with Microsoft — they needed some space — the studio has put out several map packs and continued to balance and reorganize the multiplayer features ofHalo 3. Before the third iteration of the shooter series, Bungie worked like madmen to finishHalo 2and its post-release content.
And they’re still not done.Halo 3’sMythic map pack looms and theHalo: ODSTexpansion(of sorts) is on the horizon. Essentially, it’s all Master Chief and no play for Bungie.

Yet, it appears thatODSTcould be Bungie’s last hurrah in theHalouniverse or at the very least, the last of their work withHalo 3. “Overall though, we are viewing the ODST campaign and the included multiplayer maps as the final exclamation point in our ongoing efforts to extend the Halo 3 experience,” Bungie’s Brian Jarrad toldIGN. “We’re really grateful to our fans for standing by Halo 3 for so long and continuing such strong support.”
Gearbox islong rumored to be working onHalo 4, which relieves Bungie of delivering the next bigHalogame. Will Bungie take a break and hang up the green helmet afterODST? It seems likely. Imagine eating the same thing everyday for a few years.
