Now here is a very interesting development from theSmashDOJO. A new item calledAssist Trophieswill allow you to summon random Nintendo characters onto the battlefield. From the screens released so far, Hammer Bro,NintendogsandSamuraiGoroare the first “items” announced. Just like thePokemons, the Assist characters will be invincible.
From the sounds of it, there are going to be a lot of Assist characters:
Assist Trophies allow you to enjoy even more characters whocouldn’t quite make it as playable fighters. You may even see some that only the most dedicated fans will recognize, so you’ll have to look forward to them.
Personally, I’d rather see a bigger character list than what essential is a cop-out. SamuraiGorocould have easily been an additional playable character so this particular development doesn’t sit to well with me. Although, an all item Assist Trophy battle could prove to be very fun.
