Like a nail through my heart, Konami has closed the lid on several of its PS3 and Wii titles, including — may God have mercy on their souls — the PS3 incarnation of its timelessGradiusseries, presumably the sixth. Also on the chopping block wasJikkyou Powerful Pro Baseball(PS3) and other long-awaited titles likeNew Action Game(PS3),New Role-Playing Game(PS3), andRole-Playing Game(Wii). Axed before they could even benamed. Such is the way of things, I suppose.
One can only hope that this latest development in the ongoing saga of Developers Trying to Coax Me Into Killing Myself (available in hardback at booksellers nationwide as soon as, say, Grasshopper disbands orBeyond Good and Evil‘s sequel finally arrives as a DOAX-style boobs-and-beaches extravaganza) is only a sign thatGradiuswill be moving to another platform. 360? Wii? I don’t care. Just put Treasure at the trigger andget me my friggin’ Gradius.
