I lovedMadWorld. I didn’t always like it, but I always loved it. The graphics, the character design, the boss fights, the soundtrack; they were all enough to keep the game’s various shortcomings from bothering me. I feel that way, more or less, about all of Platinum Games’s titles thus far. There are little things I don’t like about all of them, but the love is still there regardless.

That’s why I’m losing my sh*t overMax Anarchy. I’m in no way sold on the game yet. The idea of multi-player being the focus scares me, and I still have no idea how it’s going to play, but the fact that Jack (and maybe a souped-upBig Bull Croker) fromMadWorldseems to central to the game’s events has me spazzing out. From the looks of this teaser trailer, there are at least two other central characters in the mix as well, one with a distinctBayonetta-feel, and the other with a definiteVanquish-vibe.

If Platinum manages to combine the various character styles and gameplay hooks fromMadWorld,Bayonetta, andVanquishin one game, this may just turn out to be my Game of the Year.
