While I’m not keen on everything Microsoft is doing with the New Xbox Experience (NXE), I am really looking forward to the Netflix streaming video. Sadly, it’s just become a little bit less awesome now thatShacknewsis reporting that a planned movie sharing feature will not be implemented in the update which hits consoles on November 19th.

One of the main features Microsoft has been touting is a more community-based atmosphere, where players can meet up with each other in a virtual room and interact together in various ways. One of the activities planned was to allow up to eight users to all watch the same streaming movie simultaneously, like meeting up in someone’s living room.

The other shared media aspect, photo sharing, will still be available when the dashboard update releases. And don’t rule out the movie sharing entirely. Microsoft claims that they will still be delivering the feature at some point, suggesting that NXE is intended to be a more dynamic system of improvements instead of the biannual dump they’ve delivered in the past.

It’s a little lame that I won’t be able to watch the most recent episode ofHeroesthe night after it airs with friends who might not be able to hang out in person for it but this isn’t really a major setback or anything. After all, we’ll always haveShiMuNi.
