Earlier this year,Prince of Persiaproducer Ben Mattes bet his job that the game’s computer-controlled sidekick, Elika, would never get in the player’s way. Inan interview I did with himnot long ago, he reiterated this, saying Elika would be nothing but a positive, and likening her to your favorite gun inGears of WarorCounter-Strike

“You like Elika,” he told me, “because she has infinite ammo, she’s stuck to your waist, she never rusts, she never breaks down, she only ever makes you feel like a super f**king badass. That’s why you like Elika.”

Hell is Us gameplay reveal

This latestPrince of Persiatrailer shows a bit of that off, with Elika working alongside the Prince to traverse the game’s environments and kick some ass. Also, before anyone mentions it, she continues to look a bit like Natalie Portman. There have been worse things, I guess; they could have made her look like Rosie O’Donnell.

Prince of Persiahits the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 next week, and PC later this month. Saying I’m “kind of” looking forward to playing the full game is an understatement.
