Nintendo — a company that blatantly has short-term plans for a 3DS Lite — has said today that it has no short-term plans for a 3DS Lite. We’re fairly certain that “Next year, while laughing into a giant vagina made out of dollar bills” counts as short-term, guys.

“The first thing (Nobuo) Nagai-san10, who’s in charge at the Uji plant, said to me when he looked over the designs for Nintendo 3DS before mass production began was ‘This time it’s fully packed right from the start.'” said Nintendo overlord Satoru Iwata, in the latestIwata Asks.

GameBoy SP Advance creator Kenichi Sugino chipped in with: “Oh, really? But he was right. That’s why we don’t have any short-term plans for creating a more compact version of Nintendo 3DS like we did with Nintendo DS Lite.”

Iwata claims that Nintendo “used all its tricks” for making the 3DS as sleek and compact as possible. Of course, theysaythis, but something tells me that they’ll magically remember something absolutely crucial by the end of the year and have something new for us in 2012. Just aweird feelingI’ve got.
