There’s been a lot of news swimming around concerningFinal Fantasy XIV, the MMO successor toFinal Fantasy XIthat was announced at E3. This is news I’ve looked at, but have absolutelyzerointention of talking about. I’m not going to mention the races, the classes, the screenshots, any of that rubbish. At least, not right now.
I’ve come to the conclusion thatFinal Fantasy XIVshould not be talked about untilFinal Fantasy XIIIis released. To me, the idea of announcing a sequel to a game that isn’t even out yet is absolutelyludicrous. Square Enix loves to churn outFinal Fantasygames at an insane rate, but the announcement ofXIVwas almost a self-parody. It’s no wonder Square Enix takes six years to make a game when it keeps getting sidetracked by other projects.

It’s not even likeFinal Fantasy XIIIis one game. It’s just one chapter in theFinal Fantasy Nobula Crystallis Kukaracha Novella Texas BBQ Pringles Yo Gabba Gabbaseries that was announced like, six years ago. Three games announced over half a decade ago, not one of them released, and we’re talking about thenextproject? Oh no, I’m not falling into that trap.
Square Enix, stop filling your plate and give people time toanticipatesomething before announcing the next thing. Oh, and stop publishing utter crap likeInfinite Undiscoveryin between. Note also that this is just my personal opinion and doesn’t reflect the opinions of the rest of the Dtoid staff, who are far less bitter and cynical than I am.
