August 31st of this year marked the 12th birthday of the Westwood/EA’sCommand & Conquer series of PC games (well, mostly PC), and to celebrate, the original game is being given away for free on theC&C Web site.
The download is an .ISO file, which creates a playable disc. This download is compatible with Windows XP (no word on Vista), and is the same version included with the collectors packCommand & Conquer: The First Decade.
We are also reminded to keep our eyes on the Command & Conquer Web site through the month of September as they “plan to celebrate and remember 12 years ofCommand & Conquerin a number of different ways.” More free stuff, perhaps?
