WithCrysis 2on store shelves, Electronic Arts is free to focus onBattlefield 3as its next attempt to upset theCall of Dutyapple cart. However, Micheal “Power Bottom” Pachter isn’t about to let EA get its hopes up, already dismissing the game’s chances.

“There is no prayer thatBattlefield 3will top the nextCall of Duty, silly question,” he stated, when asked. “EA is trying to gain share incrementally, and I’m sure that if it is a great game,Battlefield 3will sell 25 – 35% more copies than the last version. It would have to sell around 300% more than the last version to toppleCall of Duty.

“The question you didn’t ask is whether Battlefield 3 will take share,” he added. “Based upon the growing installed base ofCoDmultiplayer players, it’s possible that both games will see higher sales in 2011, so I wonder whether EA will actually ‘take’ share.”

EA has beenobsessed withCall of Dutyfor a while, and every shooter the publisher puts out there seems designed specifically at knocking Activision down. Maybe EA shouldn’t try so hard. It’s looking kind of pitiful.
