Wedbush Morgan’s Michael Pachter predicts that Nintendo’s Q1 sales were $3.91 billion, just ahead of the second quarter financial results expected July 30th. His predictions are even higher that Nintendo’s own. He says that Nintendo’s “performance has been spectacular,” and believes that the Wii and DS will sell even better in 2009 than they will this year. There’s no stopping them!

Pachter also had a bit to say about Nintendo’s lack of core game announcements at their E3 press conference this year, according toGamasutra. He says that while “some hardcore gamers were critical of Nintendo’s failure to announce newMarioandZeldagames at the show… we think that Nintendo focused upon building upon its formidable lead with the mass market, and do not consider the lack of major hard core game announcements to be an abandonment of its core.”

This echoes the statements madein a recent interviewwith Nintendo head Satoru Iwata.

I can appreciate that Nintendo wanted to focus on what really makes them money at E3 this year, but they could of at least took five minutes to quickly mentionMarioorZelda. We’re not stupid. We know they’re working on new games. We just like to hear it sometimes, Nintendo.
