According to some detective work on the part of theSteam community, it would appear thatLeft 4 Dead 2will be one of a handful of games supporting Xbox Live’s “Avatar Awards” scheme, providing 360 users with frying pans, medkits, and T-shirts for their twee little Xbox ambassadors. Steam user Fade Guy said he dug through the game’s demo code and found files relating to these awards, along with brand new commentary audio files recorded by Valve boss Gabe Newell....

The afternoon greets us (or at least those of us with PS3s) with good news. The demo forLost Planetis being released on the U.S. Playstation Network today. All you PS3 owners forced to wait a year to stalk the frozen landscapes of E.D.N. III, while your 360 owning compatriots had long since claimed the planet as a spoil of war, can finally join in the Akrid slaughtering fun. The demo features the Pirate Fortress map as well as two multiplayer modes (Elimination and Team Elimination) supporting up to 8 players....

In the world of puzzle games involving blocks there isn’t much that hasn’t been done. Blocks have fallen, been paired, been shot, been organized and they’ve been grouped. In short, it’s a bit difficult to do something new in the block puzzle game genre. That’s probably why it took indie game developer Mikko Miettinen over two years to put together his upcoming PC puzzle gameLucid, which appears to deliver yet another new twist to the age old practice of organizing colored blocks....

All Units, confused nerds: Cammy’s round buttocks are set to grace the next run of Mad Catz Tournament Edition Fight Sticks. Starting September 4th, Mad Catz and Capcom plan to sell a very limited run ofStreet Fighter IVjoysticks sporting the fine and not-exploited-in-the-least females of the game as its artwork. It has been dubbed the “Femme Fatale” edition Fight Stick, for obvious reasons. The Fight Sticks will be available for purchase in two ways on the 4th: at the Capcom booth at Penny Arcade Expo and through the official Capcom and Mad Catz online stores....

Really, it’s okay to shed a tear or two if you’re aMaddenfan who doesn’t have an Xbox 360 and an Xbox Live Gold account. I’m doing it right now, since I only own a PS3. This afternoon, Microsoft announced (see press release after the jump) that the demo will actually hit Xbox Live a week early — on Thursday, July 23rd — butonlyfor Xbox Live Gold members. In addition, Inside Xbox will feature “exclusive interviews and previews” on July 30th, when the demo will be made available to Xbox Live Silver members (and the PlayStation Network)....

Miami Law is the story of Miami PD’s Martin Law and the FBI’s Sara Starling. Something bad is going down and only they can save the day. You can play as either character and events will play out differently depending on who you play as throughout the game. It’s a detective type game, but there will be plenty of action sequences to help keep the game interesting. Disarm the bomb, chase criminals in cars and evenTime Crisis-like gun fights are some of the examples of what players will come across inMiami Law....

Microsoft already makes tons of cash on Xbox Live Gold subscriptions. It also makes plenty of money from advertising on Xbox Live. Why not make some more?
