It’s that gruesome time once again, as yet another trip to the dank and damp Podcastle is approaching. Atheistium is polishing the ramparts, yours truly has set the banquet table, and Wardrox has been let out of the dungeon for a bit. I’m pretending we live in an actual castle, you see, because it makes my dreary little life feel more exciting than it is. Recording tomorrow evening at 6pm GMT, we will be discussing the way European politics have affected, or could possibly affect, the gaming world....

Usually I’m not one to care for MMOs, but Funcom’s “modern world” take on the massively multiplayer genre has left me feeling quite impressed. The art style forThe Secret Worldis unique and more than a little twisted, and the brand new trailer, posted after the jump, as incredibly cool. I love the look of the weird crow monster. One of the more interesting aspects about this developer diary forToo Humanis that it ends with excerpts from a documentary which creator Denis Dyack claims to be the inspiration for his game. TitledThe Goblin Man of Norway, it details the discovery of some kind of ancient machine discovered in the ice. Interested by the clips shown (at least from a mockumentary standpoint), I decided to do a little research to see if I could find out some more …… And it seems the documentary doesn’t actually exist....

During tonight’s VGAs, Ubisoft’sPrince of Persia: The Forgotten Sandsmade its debut in trailer form. There wasn’t much to see, but we have it for you anyway. Crumbling buildings,girly menwith perms and eye makeup, and sand. Lots of sand. “Sultans die, kingdoms fall, but the sand remains,” the trailer says. It’s crazy cinematic and cool, but tells us nothing. Well, it tells us a release date: May 2010. I’m not hating on the new POP....

It seems as though Trion Worlds will be pulling back the game development curtain a bit to shine light on the future of its games. What do you get when you mix an eye test andUnreal Tournament? According to the researchers at the University of Rochester, you get improved overall vision. Daphne Bavelier and Shawn Green (of University of Rochester) created a study to test how playing video games affects a persons vision. They did this by finding a group of college students who didn’t game (blasphemy!) and tested their vision using what is called a crowding exam....

So yeah, I forced myself to play this game. InWe Cheer 2, players will use the Wiimote to swing their arms around to match on-screen prompts. It’sDance Dance Revolutionfor the arms, basically.
