Dawn of War II’s Last Stand getting more gear next month

Dawn of War II: Retribution‘s incredibly fun three-against-many survival mode, The Last Stand, is getting more content soon by way of an update. Twelve Steam achievements are being added, each of which comes with a new piece of wargear for the Last Stand heroes to equip. That’s unfortunately as detailed as the press release got. I’m eager to see what this patch will do for the Chaos Sorcerer, myself. THQ expects this free update to go live on Wednesday, April 6....

Dead Space: Extraction requires a controller to play

Breaking:Dead Space: Extractionwill require the use of a controller. Earlier this afternoon we were shocked by a trailer Electronic Arts sent around to the media. The scandalous trailer (available below the fold) clearly shows two Visceral Games employees using the Wii remote and nunchuck attachment to solve puzzles cooperatively and dismember anorexic aliens in the Wii-exclusive title. The two staffers even go so far as to explain how to play the game....

Destructoid review: Castlevania Judgment

When I firstgot wordthat Konami was working on a Castlevania fighting game for the Wii, I was pretty sure it was going to suck. Then, when I was lucky enough to play the game atE3 08, I was sure it was going to suck. Playing is believing, after all, and playingCastlevania Judgmentwas about as fun as toothache. The controls were ridiculously imprecise, the graphics were ugly, and the gameplay consisted of nothing more than pure waggle....

Destructoid’s games of the week for 09/23/07: rated M for Mature edition!

One of the biggest complaints I hear aboutDestructoidis our lack of maturity. Sites across the Internet fromJoystiqtoCute Overloadoften cite our irreverent, tasteless humor as evidence of a lack of reserve, or of a sort of immature, childish world view. Gentlemen and fly b$&^#es, I’m here today to tell younothingcould be further from the truth. Here atDestructoidwe see the world not in black and white, but instead in shades of grey interspersed with pictures of naked women, decapitated corpses and ducks wearing hats....

I’m talking about the nextLegend of Zeldacurrently in development for the Wii. “To be honest with you,” Miyamoto told a small theater full of media during a Q&A today, “I really wanted to announce a Zelda game for the Wii [this E3].” Obviously, they didn’t....

EA responds to the Spore DRM madness

The big mess that isSpore‘sDRM controversycontinues as Electronic Arts has “responded” to concerns over its use of SecuROM in Will Wright’s opus. EA corporate communications repMariam Sughayer claims that the uproar over limited installations is unjustified because 77% of customers have only installed the game once, leaving 23% that have needed to install it multiple times. “EA has not changed our basic DRM copy protection system,” explained Sughayer. “We simply changed the copy protection method from using the physical media, which requires authentication every time you play the game by requiring a disc in the drive, to one which uses a one-time online authentication....

Europe waits half a year to get Super Paper Mario, and it’s got a glitch?

Oh this is rich. This is rich like fruit cake and marzipan. I have alreadyranted in the pastabout how disgraceful it is that Europeans had to wait half a year to play one of the few decent Wii games on the market, but the fact that after all this time there’s a glitch of any description inSuper Paper Mariois a bit rubbish. The glitch won’t affect very many players at all, but those that trigger it will be treated to a game breaking freeze that will require the unfortunate player to reset his or her Wii and start from the last save point....

Even more hilarious Plants vs. Zombies ads

PopCap got a kick out of how funny we thought theirEvony-spoofedPlants vs. Zombiesadswere, but really, it’s stuf flike this that makes me love them so much as a company and look forward to their games. Serious titles are awesome and everything, but for me nothing measures up to a game that will keep me giggling. Anyway, PopCap were kind enough to share an exclusive sneak preview of the rest of the ads they created in that campaign with Destructoid, which you can see in the attached gallery....

Faith and a .45 officially on hold, tears officially shed

Many of you may have forgotten the promisingFaith and a .45, a depression-era co-op game from the same outfit that brought usTotal Overdose. Its unique setting and Bonnie & Clyde-esque characters made this game incredibly appealing to me, but sadly it seems that the title is on hold until further notice. I tried contacting Deadline Games aboutFaitha while ago, but didn’t seem to get anywhere. Othershad more luck, and found out that, while the studio doesn’t have a problem making the game, itdoeshave a problem finding anybody to publish it....

Fallout: New Vegas eclipses Fallout 3 debut sales in UK

Despite its notorious buggery,Fallout: New Vegashas been performing pretty damn well in the sales department. Obsidian’s post-apocalyptic spin-off has beatenFallout 3‘s debut sales by almost a third. Ring-a-ding-ding! New Vegasshot to the top of all format charts in the UK this week, having released this past Friday. Quite a notable success, especially in a country that almost exclusively buys football games andModern Warfare 2. New Vegas has become quite a controversial subject thanks to its myriad glitches, but it does throw up an interesting “experience vs....
