Finally! A PSP joystick that doesn’t completely suck

Just look at this incredible mod! It’s the work of Joe Stranger, a man who just couldn’t stand the current PSP nub. So, instead of whining like the rest of us, he took matters into his own hands. Joe added a mini USB port to his PSP and a mini USB connector to a PS2 analog stick. The end result is a sleek, responsive joystick. This is Joe’s e-mail to MaxConsole:...

Finally, a Monster Hunter game’s coming to PS3!

Hey guys, remember whenMonster Hunter Triwas supposed to be a PlayStation 3 game before Capcom jumped ship for the Wii, likely on the grounds that it was cheaper to develop for and had a larger install base? I remember, and it looks like Sony remembers, too, because they’re finally getting their PS3Monster Huntergame. But it’s notTri, oh no. Rather, it’s an HD version of the PSP-nativeMonster Hunter Portable 3rd, unimaginatively titledMonster Hunter Portable 3rd HD Version....

First Bulletstorm ‘Skillisode’ lays out a few sick moves

It seems like there’s no stopping theBulletstormhype train that is picking up steam. A new series of videos from Epic Games, dubbed “Skillisodes,” shows some of the variety of special combat bonuses you can earn while playing the game. It’s effective in illustrating the range in ways you can be rewarded for killing creatively, to say the least, and I’m impressed by the idea that the game will let me know every time I’ve shot someone in the throat....

First Modern Warfare 2 multiplayer footage is delicious

Prior to today, I acknowledged that yeah, I would likely purchaseModern Warfare 2on November 10 of this year. But my excitement for the game was nowhere near where it was forCall of Duty 4. However, after seeing the first snippet of multiplayer footage, I take that all back — I’m officially pumped. The video, which can be found after the break, shows some of the different killstreak rewards forModern Warfare 2....

First screens from XBLA Zeno Clash: Ultimate Edition

Zeno Clash, the indie PC title turned Xbox Live Arcade game, is coming to us soon by way of Atlus. The strange-looking brawler lets you fight creatures in a first-person view. It’s one of those games that more people need to try, so I think it’s great that Atlus is bringing it over. They tease additions and enhancements, but we’ll have to wait for a bit to hear what they are....

First screenshots and teaser for Katamari Damacy Vita

How does shape-shifting Katamari action sound? That’s whatthe next game, due out on PlayStation Vita, promises. Namco Bandaihas postedthe first screenshots ofKatamari Damacyfor Vita, plus a suitably quirky teaser trailer. Truth be told, having this series on a portable with dual sticks is more than enough for me. That said, the new stretch-and-shrink mechanics do sound neat. Using the rear touch screen, you can manipulate your katamari. Since you’ll have extra fingers near the back of the Vita while playing anyway, it should feel pretty natural....

Forza 4 revealed, hints at possible Kinect functionality

Forza Motorsport 4is in the works, and it’s hitting Xbox 360 in the fall of 2011. Turn 10’s racer was confirmed at the Spike Video Game awards tonight, and like with most of the reveals, we don’t know much about the game. There will be plenty of fast and shiny cars, that’s for certain. There are also elements of the trailer — mainly the parts towards which show what appears to be a car showcase mode — that hint at some kind of Kinect functionality....

Fourth Prince of Persia dev diary further heightens my anticipation for the game

I’ve found that, in the usual glut of high-profile releases this fall, many people seem to completely have forgotten that there’s still one more potential game of the year contender waiting in the wings: Ubisoft’sPrince of Persia. The gorgeous-looking current-gen “refresh” of the storied platforming franchise is due for release on the PS3, 360, and PC this Tuesday, December 2nd (you’d think that, by now, the video would give a more concrete release date than “Holiday 2008”)....

GDC 11: Four-person multiplayer in Spelunky XBLA

ExcitingSpelunkynews to come out of GDC 2011. First, the oh-God-yes one: the impending Xbox Live Arcade version of the game will feature four-person local multiplayer. If there’s friendly fire, I don’t even know. Great to hear either way. IndieGames also reports that the shop keeper has been streamlined to the point where only a single button press is needed when purchasing multiple items. “This might be scary to hear,” says programmer Andy Hull, “but you can’t be afraid to change things from the original game....

Gears of War 2 multiplayer event happening this weekend

Tickers. Apparently, these exploding little buggers are the equivalent of fireworks in theGears of Waruniverse — a point we’ll get to shortly. Normally, we’d argue that Marcus and Dom’s relationship is more explosive (and colorful), but this doesn’t seem like the right context. Marcus and Dom are merely skins in multiplayer, not the living, breathing men we’ve come to know through the past game’s campaigns. Oh, right, context: Epic Games is throwing aGears of War 2multiplayer event this weekend....

Genesis emulator coming to iPhone, won’t be taken down

Here’s something you don’t see every day. An emulator for the Sega Genesis is on its way to the iPhone App Store and, get this, it probably won’t be taken down within 24 hours. Sega is getting set to release their own official emulator for everybody’s favorite little handheld. I wouldn’t get too excited, though. It’s less an emulator than a content portal. You’ll be able to buy a number of classic Genesis games through the app, includingEcco the Dolphin,Shining Force,Sonic the HedgehogandGolden Axe....

God Awful Gadgets: Game Boy Camera

To be honest, I was aformerowner of a Game Boy Camera back when it was released in 1996. However, it didn’t take long for my dog to make it a personal chew toy of hers. Little did I know, she was actually doing me a favor by destroying that which should never have been created. For those of you who can’t remember the Game Boy Camera, it was a simple black & white digital camera accessory for the original Game Boy....

God of Wardrobe [Update]

A few months ago, Sony gave PlayStation Underground members the opportunity to design alternate costumes for Kratos; the winning costume would appear as an unlockable outfit in the upcomingGod of War II. According to an e-mail I received, “the resulting entries really impressed the dev (sic) team” and Sony is giving other PlayStation Underground members the opportunity to not only see the top entries, but to vote on them as well....
