Section 8: Prejudice devs promise a better story

The originalSection 8didn’t have much of a story. So little, in fact, that it barely merited mention inJim’s reviewof the game. In this new behind-the-scenes video, the developers at TimeGate Studios emphasize that they’re working to expand the tale considerably in Section 8: Prejudice. That’s all well and good, but I have a more pressing question: Who let the desperate cougar into the office?

See 493 Pokemon evolve into 487 anime girls (and 6 guys)

Like with that gender-bendingStreet Fighterfan artandmaybe-creepy Roll artworkwe recently posted, I have a feeling that this Pokemon fan-art is going to draw some polarizing opinions. It’s undeniable that it took a lot of time and creative energy to think of 493 anthropomorphic equivalents to match each and every Generation 1-4 Pokemon, and a lot of them are pretty brilliant. I tried to put the best of the best of them in the image above, but I didn’t even come close....

Serious Sam 3 screenshots are ready to rock

New screenshots forSerious Sam 3: BFE, everybody! As far as I can tell, they still haven’t told us what BFE stands for. “Beyond First Encounter” makes the most sense, sinceSerious Sam 3is a prequel, but I’m hoping Croteam either A) comes up with something totally out there for seemingly no reason, or B) exclusively uses just “BFE” until the end of time. Who’s ready to make aliens explode in 22nd century Egypt?...

Sonic the Hedgehog 4 gets a brand new trailer

Following the news thatSonic 4has been delayed and is coming to the iPhone, Sega has released an all-new trailer for game’s first episode. This video will hold no fresh information for those already privy to the multitude of screenshots and leaks, but it’s still nice to see the game in motion. I personally like what I see, although I’m still a touch wary of the homing attack. I’ll have to get some hands-on experience with that before I can tell if it’s a help or hindrance to the overall game, but I can’t wait to play the game however it turns out....

Sony’s response to Euro PSN frustrations: Blame publishers

European PlayStation Store users, like European users ofanyvideogame platform, are frustrated. It’s the same old story — Europeans get shafted with games arriving late, or simply not at all, and they don’t like it. The PAL PlayStation Store looks weak compared to the others, and Sonyhas respondedby pointing fingers at the people we should be angry at. “We are committed to working very hard to ensure that our first-party content (the games created by our own Sony Computer Entertainment development teams) is published across all the PlayStation-Stores, simultaneously,” explainsEuropean PlayStation Store manager Angela Madronero....

Square Enix cancels Gun Loco

Square Enix, like a murderer of children in the night (exactly like that), has quietly axed the Xbox 360 shooterGun Loco. In case you forgot all about it,Gun Locowas that crazy looking game in which muscular men in rabbit helmets and other deranged psychopaths charge at each other while firing guns in order to escape a prison planet. No reason was given for the cancellation, though one can only assume the game was dreadful … not that that’s stopped Square Enix frompublishing stuffin the past....

Square Enix sues FFVII Advent Children cosplayers for $325k

You think you’re making a cool cosplay music video, and then Square Enix slaps you with a lawsuit, and you’re forced to pay $325,000 for paying tribute (cough) to one of their properties. That’s exactly what happened to Korean producer “Phantom Productions.” It seems that they used unauthorized bits and pieces of theFinal Fantasy VII Advent Childrenfilm in their video. That was f-up number one. The other, of course, was that they used the video for commercial purposes....

Square Enix survey asks: Final Fantasy XIII on PS3 or 360

After seeingFinal Fantasy XIII‘s sales numbers (about 828k for PS3, 494k for Xbox 360), Square Enix wants to know why you purchased the game on the system you bought the game for. And when I say “you” I mean the hardcore Square Enix fans. You know, the ones that actually register as members on their site. You know, like me. I am a fu*king nerd (and a fanboy?), so I have two copies for PS3, one Japanese and one English....

Technical Difficulties: Consolitis

[For hisMonthly Musing, Eprahim shares his semi-controversial opinions and unhappiness at how he believes games are having their difficulty (and a whole lot of other things) reduced in order to appeal to a wider audience. Ten Golden Rules of the anti-videogames lobby

We have had many useful commandments for loyal readers over the course of our Ten Golden Rules series. From learning how to be anonline gamerandfanboy, to crafting a successfulJRPGorSurvival Horror, there have been failsafe doctrines of conduct for gamer and game designer alike. This week, though, we’re catering to the “other” side of the fence, as it were. No, that wasn’t a tasteless gay euphemism; I am of course talking about those would deem themselves our mortal enemies — the anti-games lobby....

TGS: Fresh Castlevania: Lords of Shadow screenshots

I’ll go ahead and be the millionth person to say this: even though I fully intend on buyingCastlevania: Lords of Shadowat this point, it’s not necessarily what I want from aCastlevaniagame. Yeah, I’m one of those guys who gets irrationally upset over these silly things. The cast of RE: Afterlife reads lines from the first game

Did that headline come out right? Hope so. I wouldn’t want any of theResident Evilgame-loving, movie-hating people to miss out on this one. It’s a video ofAfterlife‘s cast members spouting off actual lines from the originalResident Evilgame. You know where this is headed. They did the “master of unlocking” bit, but sadly, no “Jill sandwich.” Props to MTV for having the foresight to seize this humorous opportunity and also to the cast for realizing just how goddamn ridiculous the films — and the initial set of games — truly are....
