Atari NYC Media Day: Alone in the Dark on the PS3 with … damn it

I was really looking forward toAlone in the Dark— so much so, that I put it at number eight on mylist of the top 10 PS3 gamesI was anticipating the most this year. I say “was” — as in, past tense — because, of course, the reviews of the 360 version were overwhelmingly negative. As a PS3 owner, I retained a small sliver of hope, praying that developer Eden Games would fix the myriad problems with the 360 version....

Bethesda to announce a 2010 title in ‘the next month or so’

Pete Hines is such a tease. While speaking at the recentWETevent, the Bethesda PR man said that an announcement for a 2010-slated videogame is “coming in the next month or so.” And it won’t be an Apple handheld title, either. Hines put that to bed when asked at the event. So what game is it? We haven’t the slightest idea.MTV Multiplayer— who also caught Hines tease — is guessing that it’s aWhere’s Waldoremake....

Blur weapons showed off in neon colors

Have you been wondering how upcoming arcade racerBlurwas going to take kart racing weapons and make them super HARDCORE! Judging from the video above they’re doing it with electricity and neon colors galore. We all know that things with bright neon colors and waves of electricity flying around are way cooler than, say, shells and banana peels. Pssssh, banana peels. That’s a fruit not a weapon. LAME. All right, I’m done, but in case you couldn’t tell,Blurdoes not appeal to me at all and I don’t really see the draw even when the producer of the gameexplains it to me....

Boris Johnson; MP, personality, bloody fool

Boris Johnson is England’s answer to Ann Coulter. Sure, he lacks her breasts and ovaries filled with razor sharp needles, but he more than makes up for it with his ruddy countenance and utterly inane opinions. Plus, this albino waste of flesh somehow manged to get himself elected to Parliament! Mr. Johnson recently posteda blog entrydecrying the “narcotic” menace that is video gaming. Apparently England has solved all of their other pesky problems, like cancer and whyMike Skinnerisn’t more famous in America, so now they are free to turn their attention to a subject that has been undermining their traditional grace and charm for years: video games....

Buy Rune Factory 2: A Fantasy Harvest Moon, cuddle free squirrel

You know what I really love about the concept of pre-order bonuses? There’s no reason I should have to be bribed to buy a good game, but since these have become popular as of late, it seems like there is some free goodie that comes with everything. For Harvest Moon fans, they have this sweet little squirrel, which has deceptively long bunny-like ears and comes with any pre-order forRune Factory 2: A Fantasy Harvest Moonfor DS....

Capcom shutting down Resident Evil Outbreak servers

Regretfully, conditions now dictate that we must close down this server effective from Jun 07, 2025. Naturally it will still be possible to play the game offline, but the online component will no longer be available. Following the forum announcement, a five page thread erupted, with pages four and five going to s**t … quite literally. For the love of God, don’t click on page four, as it’s not safe for work....

CES: PlayStation Network reaches 60 million users

Microsoft has been boasting that Xbox Live achieved 50 million members, with a new membership every two seconds. However, it would appear that the less established of the two major console networks, the PlayStation Network, has XBL trumped by 10 million. Sony CEO Howard Stringer declared onstage that PSN membership has topped 60 million, which is some considerable growth compared to the 38 million of last year. It capped 50 million back in June, which is the total that Microsoft celebrated last night....

Word on the street is that if you preorderBrütal Legendfrom Best Buy, you can get your dirty hands on this ridiculously awesome record sleeve. Commander: Site with cryptic video gets an equally cryptic picture

Last weekend, we spotteda creepy viral videofor what IGN believes to be a Wii-exclusive title due out in 2009. I had my old German professor attempt to translate the entirety of the piece, but she wasn’t able to catch anything audible (other than the screaming) in the closing seconds. The Web site hosting the videonow has a cryptic image (above) that doesn’t need language translation — only artistic. What the hell does the picture convey?...
