Just aspredicted, Sony’s PlayStation 2 gets a price cut, though it looks like it will hit shelves a little late for this holiday season. The new model gets a $30 price cut, down to the expected price point of $99.MCVsays that the new PS2s are expected to hit stores in early 2008. The external power pack that the Slim PS2 used to sport is now going to be tucked within the system’s casing, helping to bring the price down....

Silly system war kiddies, here’s more fuel for your fire: The upcoming PS3 version ofTales of Vesperiahasplenty of added contentover the Xbox 360 version, but a recent addition to this list takes the PS3 version over the top. Start using words like “superior” now. You’re in the clear. That’s right: the PS3 version ofTales of Vesperianow has swimwear, as seen in this magazine scan. You can brag about how all of that raw number crunching power will go into rendering bare navels and breast shading while the Xbox 360 owners have to settle for covered midriffs....

Q-Games’Casual Connect teaserwas indeed related toPixelJunk Monstersas many of you had guessed. For the first time, the fantastic series will be available outside of PlayStation Network. This free-to-play, browser-based version retains the samePixelJunk Monstersname, and it’s clearly familiar aesthetically as well. The expanded world map is new, as is the social integration found there. In terms of a release date, “later this year” is all we have to go on....

Critter Crunchis a puzzle game on the PlayStation Network where you have to solve puzzles and vomit into your children’s mouths to feed them. Yup. Best game concept ever. Capybara Gameshave given us someCritter Crunchcodes,shirts(you’ll be able to pick the size and color) and thissigned print artto giveaway so we’ve decided to take the barfing aspect ofCritter Crunchand apply it into ourCritter Crunchgiveaway. All you have to do to win is take a picture of yourself throwing up....

Okay, here’s the thing — I’m biased. Well, maybe not biased, but I certainly have my preferences. Those preferences include 2D games, platformers, run-and-gun shooters, and games made by small, indie teams. That’s why I’ve been so pumped forEduardo the Samurai Toaster. It’s a new 2D, hand-drawn, run-and-gun shooter made by a team of about four people. That’s pretty much everything I want in a new WiiWare game. Oh, and of course, I want games that don’t suck....

The latest game from ACE Team and Atlus hasn’t got a PlayStation Network release date pinned down yet (for now, it’s a simple “soon”), butRock of Ageshas made itover to Steam. This version includesbonus contentlike a familiar new boulder face type and the original soundtrack. Having reviewed the Xbox Live Arcade version myself, I foundRock of Agesto be roughly as enjoyable as it is weird. If originality in gaming is what you seek, consider giving this a try....

Rumors are flying around the internet that Nintendo will be bringing a downloadable demo of their sure-to-be-hit gameSuper Smash Bros Brawlto the Wii sometime between now and when the game drops on February 10th. Nintendo has thus far been extremely sheepish about bothonline promotionsand playable demos for their upcoming games. But due to the type of game thatSuper Smash Bros Brawlis, I believe this rumor could be the truth. Where a small portion ofSuper Mario GalaxyorMetroid Prime 3: Corruptionwould likely take up huge chunks of memory, a demo forBrawlwith just a couple of stages and characters may only take up the same amount of space as a N64 game....

This is probably going to further label me as being old and out of touch with what the kids are into, but I really loveJim Steinman. You’d probably know him best as the guy who wrote every good song thatMeat Loafever recorded (with the possible exception of his cover ofTear Me Down,originally from the musicalHedwig and the Angry Inch). The dude writes really amazing, operatic rock songs but I think the biggest draw I have to his music are the titles for his songs....

SEGA and Nintendo Wii fans, sit down for this one. Well, sit down if you get easily excitable about playing classic SEGA games again. Here’s what the big S has planned for the Virtual Console: SEGA of America, Inc. and SEGA Europe Ltd. today announced four titles from the SEGA Genesis library, Sword of Vermilion, Vectorman, Sonic Spinball, and Beyond Oasis will soon be available for download on the Wii Shop Channel....

Not long after it wasouted by a ratings board,Sega Rally Online Arcadehas been announced today for PlayStation Network and Xbox Live Arcade. Sega is saying the title is “inspired by” its titlesSega Rally RevoandSega Rally 3. Arcade will feature a Championship Battle mod along with a Time Attack, as well as living up to the “Online” portion of its name with multiplayer online racing modes and leaderboards. No set release date for the game other than 2011, but we’ll keep you updated when we hear more....

It’s now almost to the point that we’re desensitized to anything weird or crazy that comes from Japan. It’s their job, and they’re doing it well, so we sometimes it all starts to run together. But, just when you were least expecting it, Japan hits us with something like SEGA’s upcoming Wii titleMiburi & Teburito remind us once again how messed up they are. Miburi & Teburialmost defies explanation, but would best be described as a gesture-based crossword puzzle quiz game featuring costume play....
