Way to go, advertising geniuses….meet ‘Thumbcock’

Sony has a history ofdisturbing ads, but this most recent one may even have the power to usurp the infamous PS3 baby commercial for shock value. An ad agency in Vienna for some reason thought that they would take the shadowed image of a man with an attractive body and add something a little bit…opposable. Should you be brave, hit the jump to see the full picture. (NSFW!) This is your usual “LOL” material as far as the Internet is concerned, but what Thumbcock and the PlayStation 3 have to do with each other definitely eludes me....

Weekend Destructainment: Quack quack quack quack quack

At Anime Boston a couple of weeks ago, some folks performed a littleDuck Huntskit. Since this was an anime convention, they threw in some really annoying anime characters into the mix. The results are extremely hysterical and you just knew what was going to happen at the very end. Spotted onVGCats. I’m still in Cancun but that won’t stop me from Destructainmenting your weekend. After the jump, the Destructainment starts off with community members Toneman and Cutie Honey’s spoof of thePokémoncartoon....

Yup, Medal of Honor will have a demo

On the subject ofMedal of Honorgetting a playable demo, executive producer Greg Goodrich told GameTrailers, “We’ll have something out there for people to try and play.” Always nice to hear, but in the case ofMoH, it’s even better; many of us have long forgotten about the series. While modern-day first-person shooters are obviously the hot new thing for the genre these days, Goodrich had a choice quote about why the team at EA Los Angeles wanted to make this type of game:...

A World of Our Own: Online games and community

I recently interviewed Nexon’s Min Kim forWorlds in Motion, where I’m editor when not here at Destructoid. I cover bizness news related to online worlds, social networking, and MMOs that work on the free-to-play, pay-for-goods model. Nexon is, as you know, like, a ridiculously successful company in this space, and one of the more amazing things is that in this crazy 3D world in which we all live, one of its most successful longstanding games,MapleStory, is a 2D sidescroller....

Sandlin bought this game when he was about 12 years old at an overstock goods store for somewhere between $5 and $10. He sold it last sunday for $31,600! Analyst: DJ Hero demand is well below expectations

It’s got the “Hero” name and is being backed by the Activision marketing machine, but analyst Doug Creutz of Cowan and Company believesDJ Heroisnot setting the world afireas one might expect. The latest addition to the plastic toy instrument genre is said to be suffering from an alleged slowdown in music game sales, something that not even Daft Punk can counteract. “OnDJ Hero, despite some recent positive comments from company management about pre-orders, we remain very cautious about the title’s prospects at launch,” Creutz tells investors....

Art Attack Friday: The Perry Bible Fellowship

The Perry Bible Fellowshipis one of the most random, sexually demented, and insane comics on the Internets. So you know it’s easily one of my favorites. PBF rarely has a gaming comic like the latest one seen above. When they do have one though, it’salwaysgreat. The main focus of PBF is usually thesexuallyperverseand thedownrightinsane. The creator, Nicholas Gurewitch, varies in different art styles in his comics. Most of it is hand drawn, painted and colored....

Atlantica Online screens neglect to show hot elves, also Atlantis

Atlantica Onlineis an MMO created by NDOORS Interactive. While not exactly Blizzard or Mythic Entertainment, the game appears to be fairly original by MMO standards. We recently got our hands on a few new screenshots of the game in action. The setting is the Taj Mahal and a ragtag group of players are fighting a really huge chick and some kind of lion. The game revolves around finding the magical city of Atlantis....

Bargain Bin Laden #35: Killzone

Ah,Killzone, how I weep for thee.Killzoneis one of hype’s most tragic victims, a game so built up as a “Halokiller” and so expected to be the next big thing in first person shooting, that it was never going to be looked upon kindly by history. As developer Guerilla showed off its baby to the world, many people believed that this would be a rich and deep gameplay experience against a new and terrifying enemy, the Helghast....

Batman: Arkham City sure is looking smooth

Go back and look at some screenshots forBatman: Arkham Asylum. Now compare those images to these ofArkham City. If nothing else, the variety in the Caped Crusader’s enemies is a nice improvement. Before we more or less just had a bunch of muscle-y dirtbags who were inexplicably shirtless, and while the bad dudes in this sequel are equally fit, now they look like actual members of the Joker’s posse. One of them is even mustachioed!...
