Now that I am a professional liveblogger (with a wholeoneon my resume), I was so excited to liveblog the UbiSoft press conference that just happened here at E3. E3 09: Impressions of Half Minute Hero

Role playing games take a lot of time to play, and for some gamers, that’s the drawback that keeps them from playing them. Enter Half Minute Hero, a game that is like your standard role-playing game on fast-forward. We’re not talking a short ten hour game here, though. Try thirty seconds fast. Hate equipping your items? This game does it automatically. Hate level grinding? You’ll never have it easier. Hate random encounters?...

E3 09: Sony touts acne as a next-gen game feature

I’ve heard of bump mapping, but this is ridiculous. Sony let us know that only the PS3 has the power to render detail so fine that the characters even have acne. We had the privilege of seeing the amazingHeavy Rainup close, but maybe this was particular close up was too close for comfort. We’re talking whole-screen face here. “He’s got acne. I don’t think acne on an actor in a game ever before,” Sony says ofHeavy Raincharacter Norman Jaden....

E3 10: Kojima teases, food chopped, secrets secreted

The fine folks at Kojima Productions are at it again. They love to tease, and their most recent tease, which is counting down to E3, is possibly the strangest yet. If you headover hereyou’ll see a bunch of images of food and other such things getting cut up by sharp objects. It’s definitely different and really gives us no clue as to what it could be for… or does it?...

E3 10: Patience is required for this Fallout Online site

Ateaser website forFallout Onlineis now making the rounds — at least, I pray it is, because the site takesforeverto load. Otherwise, I am sort of embarrassed for their servers. Anyway, while I was waiting for it to finish loading, I made a sandwich: salomi, provolone, and mayo all on a toasted bagel. Mmmmmmmhhhmmm. In that case, maybe it was worth the wait after all.

E3 10: Sonic 4 looking to be priced ‘between $10 and $15’

While on the E3 show floor, I had a nice little chat withSonic the Hedgehog 4brand manager Ken Baloughs. While discussing the game and its development history, I took an opportunity on behalf of money-conscious fans everywhere to try and nail down a price point for the game. While Baloughs couldn’t declare an official price, he gave me a ballpark figure — between ten and fifteen bucks. “We haven’t officially announced a price yet but we definitely have a range in mind,” he explained....

E3 10: Ubisoft unveils Rayman Origins

I haven’t played a singleRaymangame since the original one, but that’s going to have to change withRayman Origins. The game was announced at Ubisoft’s press conference, and it looks really promising. This newest installment goes back to Rayman’s roots with both a 2D presentation and a vibrant aesthetic, which is why I’m so keen on it right now. Ubisoft wasn’t exactly clear on specifics, but the company was willing to tell us about how only five people have been working onRayman Origins....

Evidence of a new Metal Gear Solid game? It quite possibly ‘exists’

Yes I know, that’s not the most exciting header image that we’ve ever had on Destructoid, but I tried to spruce it up for you. It’s all Konami has given the Internet to work with, sadly. This bland image,as foundon the Japanese trademark database, hints at a possible newMGSgame in the works, titledMetal Gear Solid Existence, but you already knew that, because you may read. What could this be, exactly? A prequel?...

Fatality lives in this new Mortal Kombat commercial

Mortal Kombatis out tomorrow, and you can watch this new TV commercial to celebrate. It makes light of the brutality of the game’s Fatalities, and yet again boasts that awesome rendition of “Skillrex.” Gotta love it. I don’t play fighting games, but I like to watch them, and I look forward to watching other people (for example, my wife) play this one. It’s going to be fun, I think. What about you?...

Final Fantasy XIII’s ‘Stylish’ Sweeps’ will bling you out

Seriously, that’s what Square Enix is calling their latest attempt to makeFinal Fantasymerch look reasonably tasteful. Sure, there are those low-denominatorenergy drinksandbudget cosplay guides, but this bling can really appeal to the upmarketFinal Fantasyslavefan, especially if combined with someclassy perfume. Thankfully, you may not have to blow a huge wad of disposable income on looking geek-chic, at least not with regards to the jewelry, because Square Enix have indeed opened up an opportunity to get that stuff for free....
