Hideo Kojima is intent onWesleyingRaiden as much as possible, and it appears thatMetal Gear Solid RISINGmay see him succeed. The game looks to be incredibly badass, and Konami is excited enough about it that there may be an entirely new franchise bearing theRISINGname. “MGS Risingis not a side story. We’re aiming for twoMetal Gear Solids, making a series out of another standard,” explains producer Shigenobu Matsuyama. Microsoft sees Natal evolving over the next half decade

“The richness of the technology is going to really enable experiences that never had existed before,” said Microsoft’s Aaron Greengerg to CVG at X10 last week. “And we’re not just speaking about what we’re doing this year, but I think two, three, four, five years from now as this evolves.” That sounds promising. I like that Microsoft is not afraid to talk big about Natal. They’re not afraid to give it a 5 year lifespan already....

Midway announces official E3 2008 lineup

Today, Midway unveiled its official E3 2008 lineup. At the very top of the list you will notice possibly the greatest game ever, or at least the only game where players can break Batman’s arm,Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe. Other notable titles areWheelmanand the freshly delayedThis is Vegas. While I am disappointed that Kano has yet to be mentioned in a press release, I have a feeling that Midway is going to shatter the doors with the newMortal Kombat’svisceral Klose Kombat action....

Modern Warfare 2’s ‘Resurgence Pack’ in pictures

Yeah, pictures! Y’all like those, right? To go along with the first screenshots ofModern Warfare 2‘s second set of downloadable maps, the “Resurgence Pack,” we alsohave the first detailscourtesy of Major Nelson and Infinity Ward’s Robert Bowling. First, the not-so-fun news: it’s going to cost 1200 Microsoft Points ($15), as expected. A ton of you bought the first add-on pack, so it only makes sense the price would stick. Another similarity with the previous “Stimulus Package” DLC is that it’ll be available only from Xbox LIVE in the beginning, starting June 3....

Movietoid continues: Kane & Lynch to get film

It hasn’t even been released yet, but the ratherawesome lookingco-op shooter, Eidos’Kane and Lynch, is looking to hop on board the movie gravy train. A director has almost signed on the dotted line as well, Jieho Lee, who madeThe Air I Breathe, a movie I have not seen which means it doesn’t matter, but the creepy, date rapist lookalike Kevin Bacon was in it, apparently. From what has been shown of the video game, there’s plenty of scope to make a dark, violent, gritty film out of it, and for some reason, I really think they should get Robert Patrick to play Kane....

Animportant patchis coming toLittleBigPlanetwhich will fix one of the most nagging issues with the PlayStation 3 title.LBP‘s tendency to throw a tantrum if your profile becomes too full of collected stuff is being addressed with a number of new features that should ensure players no longer get over-encumbered by community objects. Muscle March launch trailer imitates greatness

I get a real “Mr. Sparkle” vibe from this video, and it’s not necessarily a good thing. Maybe that’s just because I’m just getting intoMuscle Marchright now after months of anticipation, but I’m just not ready to see it lampooned in this way yet. The video is certainly fun in theory. I can’t deny that the bodybuilders are legit, as are the defenseless children. I like the Polar Bear too....

Muslims shouldn’t play games, urges Islamic writer

When games are criticized in America, the attack usually comes from some right-wing fundamentalist Christian nutcase. That’s not to say that other religions can’t get in on the fun, though. Writer Ebrahim Saifuddin believes that videogames are forbidden under Islam, and has the Holy words to back it up. Saifuddin quotes the Qur’an to get his point across, such as the worryingly all-inclusive and nonspecific: “There is a man among the people who buys discourses of distracting amusements, so that he may mislead (people) from the Way of Allah, and make a mockery of it....

Nerdy Legos from Tokyo University’s Lego Club

Francesco sent in a tip pointing us to his gallery of pictures taken at the the Toudai University Festival in Tokyo last week. It was there that he spotted the creations of the university Lego Club. All of these words are delightfully nerdy. You’ll find that they’re all inspired by videogame and manga characters. In the mix you’ll find Hatsune Miku (of course), Touhou stuffs, Yotsuba stuffs, and Don fromTaiko no Tatsujin(Taiko Drum Master)....

New PSOne classics: Final Fantasy Tactics, Tomb Raider 3

Yes, I know thatFinal Fantasy Tacticswas re-released as a PSP game. It’s just that as lover of the early disc-based consoles, I like that old school flavor…and that horrible PSP screen stretching. That’s right, the original strategy role-playing gateway drug for many is up on the PlayStation Network as a PS3 or PSOne Classic Download. They’re asking $9.99 for this ticket back to old Ivalice. It’s worth it, you know. Fantastic videogame, this is....

New trailer for The Secret World goes to the men’s room

Just a day after showing thetrailer forThe Savage Coast, Funcom has released a new CGI trailer and a batch of fresh screenshots for its upcoming MMO,The Secret World. The trailer depicts a John Constantine-esque gentleman indulging in some simple magic tricks in a pub before heading to the men’s room, only to be confronted by a shape-shifting demon. The trailer’s not that realistic, of course; smoking in a pub in this day and age?...
