PS3 Prototype install bug has you doing some silly voodoo

It seems that the PS3 version ofPrototypedoesn’t always want to install on your system correctly. According toJoystiq, your PS3 may tell you that you don’t have enough space for the install. The workaround, provided by Activision support, has you changing the amount of disk space by 700MB in whatever way you’re able to. You can install games, demos, and other downloads. Apparently this gets things moving. Activisionon the matter: “We take this issue very seriously and are working to resolve this issue as soon as possible....

PSP breaks 10 million sold mark in Japan

The last couple of times I visited Japan, it seemed like everyone had a PSP in their face. People play them on the street, listen to them on subway trains, watch them on busses… On the last trip, I wasn’t even on the ground for an hour before I saw public PSP gaming. In that instance, it was a gorgeous girl playingCrisis Core. Call me. I guess that we should be surprised that the island country has just hit the 10 million sold mark for Sony’s portable....

PSP gets a Euro price cut, down 24 percent to ?129.99

The new price for the PSP in Europe is €129.99 ($187). This 24 percent price drop follows that of North America’s recent discount down to $129, from $169. Both price drops set the stage for the release of Sony’s new portable later this year, the NGP. “The console’s new recommended retail price, complemented by a whole host of affordable games in the Essentials, Platinum and minis collections, opens up a world of portable gaming for less — particularly for our younger audiences,” said Sony Computer Entertainment Europe’s hardware and platforms marketing manager Isabelle Tomatis....

Puzzlegeddon: Because everything is more epic when you add “-geddon” to it

I loves me a good, competitive puzzle game and will gladly take on any comers inSuper Puzzle Fighter II TurboorPuyo Puyoany day of the week. This new puzzler,Puzzlegeddon, is one that I’m seriously looking into picking up. You can never have too many puzzle games to humiliate people in. I downloaded the demo this afternoon and I’m fairly impressed. The game is pretty chaotic, with up to six players operating their own puzzle grid of icons depicting offensive and defensive capabilities....

Quirky robot antics ensue in this Spare Parts trailer

Even though EA Bright Light’sSpare Partsplays nothing likeMetal Arms: Glitch in the Systemand only really resembles it on a basic “they both have yellow robots” level, I love how the comparison is being drawn by some of you guys. Any excuse to think aboutMetal Armsis fine by me. In this debut trailer, we’re shown that there’s as much platforming about as there is fighting weird creatures. The combat — as depicted in the video, at least — seems relatively simple....

Retro City Rampage looks freaking amazing!

Two months ago,Jordan Devore saidRetro City Rampageis “one to watch” for. I didn’t listen to his wisdom. I regret my entire life now. It looks to be messing together different retro games into one big open-world experience. The press release is pretty epic even: The entire open-world is in danger. RetroforceGO! not recording this week due to banditos

Now that I have your attention, I’d like to inform you that we will not be recording this week. Okay, that’s a lie; I probably don’t have your attention. The other part is true, though. Our train was robbed by a pack of wild banditos, and we’re simply unable to record as a result. Also, I’m no doctor, but I think Chad has been stricken with what could be a terminal case of handsomepox....

RetroforceGO!: Episode 11 – Forgotten Franchises, recording tonight

And we are talkingfranchiseshere, folks, not any of those pansy games that didn’t have the cojones to produce any sequels. FromBattletoadstoManiac Mansion, we will discuss the best franchises left in the dust tonight and which ones really need to reappear on a console or handheld near you....

Review: Secret of Monkey Island: Special Edition (iPhone)

Since the initial“wink, wink” line, we all knew thatSecret of Monkey Island: Special Editionwas bound for the App Store.Launching on July 22nd, we were told that this version of the game would be very similar to its platform counterparts. We weren’t misled. Because of how close this title is to the other versions, I won’t bother reiterating what the game is about, how the Special Edition additions factor into general play, or get into why the game is so magical....

Rockstar has more ideas for Red Dead Redemption

In the new issue ofOfficial PlayStation Magazine, RockstarVP of product development Jeronimo Barrea was quoted as saying “For all the games we work on, we have a massive number of ideas that [don’t] make it in.” This was a response to the question of whether or not there were enough ideas for a new game. No word on a follow-up, but I doubt anyone here would find anotherRed Deadinstallment to be the least bit surprising if the time does ever come....
