NXE intro video has more colors than the 360’s entire software library

The one thing I took away from this NXE introduction video was just how colorful it is. When you consider that this is a system which hasHaloandGears of Waras its premier franchises, I feel this to be a misleading representation of the Xbox experience, new or otherwise. Still, that’s what NXE is all about, I think … misleading people. Anyway, this is the first thing you will see upon booting up the New Xbox Experience … the first thing that doesn’t involve three red lights, anyway....

One in five Japanese folks own a DS

You’d think by now that with the sheer amount of DS units being sold around Japan every week, everybody in the country would have one of the bloody things. While this is apparently not true, the fact thatone in fiveJapanese consumers own Nintendo’s dual-screened handheld is still pretty damn impressive. Nintendo today released a chart that indicated 20.5% of Japan is revelling in touch-screen based fun. The near 10% of Americans and Europeans, also shown in the chart, is rather good too....

Origins DLC delayed again, BioWare test plans to change

Dragon Age: OriginsDLC “Return to Ostagar” cleared tests to verify that it was issue free. AsOriginsowners know, it wasn’t. The content was pulled just about as fast as it went up, and don’t keep expecting it to hitsoon-soon. Game online producer Fernando Melo has said the studio expects another delay and that testing policies will roll (and change) as a result of this odd mess. “Unfortunately,” Melo wrote on the officialOriginsmessage board, “we did not forsee the changes being made to impact the systems it did, which is how something seemingly so visible still managed to avoid the dev teams, and multiple test cycles of seasoned QA all through internal teams, and EA and MS cert teams, and ultimately ended up out to the public....

Peggle’s App Store price slashed, now less than a dollar

PopCap Games’iPhoneslashiPod Touch titlePeggleis less than a dollar on the App Store and will remain so until June 14. The title debuted on the App Store in May for $4.99. So, that means you save money if you choose to buy now. Just to be clear: there’s no need to be apprehensive about the port. The touch controls are responsive and allow for precise shots. Plus, just about everything sane players love aboutPegglehas made the platform hop: the ridiculous tune “Ode to Joy,” the dramatic slowdown, the character, and the mind-numbing addictiveness....

Penny Arcade Wii skins

In the latest update to his gaming blog, Bill, over atWhat a terrible night for a curse(that’s the awesomest blog name I’ve ever seen) has uploaded a couple of pictures of Penny Arcade Wii skins (above and below) designed by him. I wonder what Gabe and Tycho are going to think when they see these. At least, Tycho looks straight in his skin…

Pinball FX2 is headed to Mars

ZEN Studios has announced a new “MARS” table is coming toPinball FX2on Jul 18, 2025, for 240 Microsoft Points. MARS will support the usualPinball FX2things like SuperScore and Wizard Score, as well as adding some new achievements. I’ve been a bit wary of getting intoPinball FX2, mostly because Nick and Conrad had a time-ruining highscore rivalry going on for a while, and I still need to play too many games that I bought but never got around to playing....

PixelJunk Monsters Deluxe will soon be $9.99 and on UMD

PixelJunk Monsters Deluxewas so worth getting at the full $19.99 launch price, it pretty much goes without saying that when it releases on UMD later this month — April 27, to be exact — for $9.99, you’ll be getting a lot of value for your money. Better yet, if you have a PSPgo or just happen to like the short load times and extended battery life of digital games versus UMD, the PlayStation Network version ofPixelJunk Monsters Deluxewill be dropped down to $9....

Plants vs. Zombies coming to Xbox LIVE Arcade

Rejoice!Plants vs. Zombiesis coming to Xbox LIVE Arcade. On July 22nd at Casual Connect, PopCap Games CEO David Roberts revealed that the charming tower defense title would indeed be making its way to XBLA. But the information stops there: Roberts didn’t address release date, pricing, or talk about any bonus content LIVE Arcade users may or may not receive. In March, PopCap Games ported the cocaine-laced puzzlerPeggleto Microsoft’s downloadable service. In addition to beefing up the title with multiplayer, PopCap introduced a controller-friendly control scheme that worked pretty damn well....

Podtoid 41 – Pretty cool characters

Firstly:SPOILER ALERT FOR EVERY GAME EVER MADE, EVER. This time around, you’ll unfortunately hear Jim and myself (mostly me) cut in and out a few times without explanation. They are but growing pains in another step of Podtoid’s evolution. Not only have we switched recorders (the devilishly handsome BlindsideDork now holds the microphone), but Podtoid 41 represents the first news-unrelated episode we’ve more or less ever done. This week,Qais Fulton,Daniel “Lingen” Lingen,Jim Sterlingand I talk about videogame characters....

Podtoid 54: Jim Sterling IS the Giraffestalker

Illustration by Ashley Davis. Jealousy by Anthony Burch. To even say that we really focused on “news” this week is a bit of an overstatement: we talked about videogames, yeah, but more often than not we just used news stories as a jumping-off point to BS about our own personal topics. It’s still a pretty solid episode — Tiff talks once or twice — but just a heads up. -No more Sterling sonnets, evidently...
