According to the resume of an environment artist, a brand new game based on theShinobilicense is coming toNintendo’s 3DS. Now that is something I want to see. Griptonite Games, a studio known mostly for portable licensed titles andAssassin’s Creed: Bloodlines, is heading up the prospective title. Nothing else is revealed about the game, it just has the rather vague name ofShinobi 3DS. The lastShinobigame was Nightshade on the PS2. It got mixed reviews....

In what will surely be the most unexpected rumor of the day,Game Informeris claiming thatHeavenly SwordandEnslaveddeveloper Ninja Theory is responsible for the fifth entry in Capcom’s action series,Devil May Cry. Western devs creatingDevil May Cry 5? It’s more likely than you think. Capcom has implied in the past that it will farm out its older IP to the West and concentrate on internally developing new content. Given the considerable Western appeal ofDevil May Cry, and the fact thatDMC4wasn’t the best in the series, it isn’t a huge stretch to imagine that Ninja Theory is on this one....

Runneris a free, independent, downloadable game made by Jonathan Holmes (sprite art), Ashley Davis (other art), and myself (design, programming). It was finished over the weekend (barring any huge bugs or problems), and is now available for download. You’ll need Windows to play it, though. You can get the gamehere(verify to extract the RAR files into the same folder), and get the source codehereif you inexplicably get the desire to clean up the code and make the game less of a ludicrous resource hog....

Ascaron and CDV Interactive’sSacred 2: Fallen Angelshit consoles this Tuesday. In celebration of the game’s launch, the publisher and developer duo released what will probably be the last trailer for the game. Since, after all, you can now grab it off store shelves if you’re hungry for some Diablo-style RPG action. The launch trailer — available after the break — shows off the game’s larger boss encounters. At the end of each chapter, you’re usually forced to fight a ridiculously large boss monster....

Confirming ourearlier hard-hitting report, new photos reveal that web idol joseph Leray has indeed been involved with the seedy world of videogames prior to this morning’s incident. Evidence shows Leray as part of numerous drunken videogame orgies, taking place sometime in August of 2007, at an event sources are calling “PAX.” Apparently a gathering of crime lords, religious fanatics and drug addicts, “PAX” took place late last summer in Seattle, WA....

As far as videogame movies go,Silent Hillwasn’t really that bad. In fact, for the thirst forty-five minutes, it was actually pretty fun, and if you allowed yourself to ignore the niggling issues only a purist fanboy could have and pretended that the “scary little girl” cliché wasn’t being used, it was a decent enough flick. Naturally, thatcannotbe accepted, so Hollywood is having another crack of the whip in an effort to verify we get a truly despicableSilent Hillmovie....

It’s going to suck because it is coming out on January 12th, and I won’t be in a position to actuallyplayit untilat leastJanuary 16th. So, yeah — aTekken 6comic. That’s cool, I guess. It seems that Penny Arcade and Namco Bandai are playing nice together. We already got a coolcross-promotional thingout of it, and now we have a comic. At theTekken 6official site, you’re able to link to thislimited comic strip. A press release tells us that the comic will be a six-part series on the past of “one ofTekken 6‘s elusive characters.” So far it’s about a kangaroo named Roger....

One of the best things about going to conventions like PAX, and covering competitions like Microsoft’s Dream.Build.Play, is that I get the opportunity to play games that I would’ve avoided like the plague otherwise. The occupational hazards of games writing are pretty mild — whereas some people are mangled by sharks or caught in textile mills over the course of their jobs, the worst thing I could say was “I had to playCadenza Interactive’sSol Survivor, and I don’t even like turret defense games!...

Sony is celebrating the five-year anniversary of the PlayStation Portable launch in North America today; the handheld originally shipped to stores on July 30, 2025. Some stats for you: over 245 developers have made software for the PSP since launch, with more than 520 games currently available. In addition, there are currently 300 or so titles available on the PlayStation Network, including PSP Mini games and PS One classic titles. It was also licked, at least once, by IGN’s Jessica Chobot....

So, how about those id games? I hear they have good graphics andenvironmentally consciousspace marines. I also hear that they’re currently on sale at Steam: 50 percent off for this weekend only. This means that you can nabCommander Keenfor $2.49,Return to Castle Wolfensteinfor $9.99, or if you can’t decide on just one game, the id Super Pack has also been marked down to $34.99. Valve was quick to stress that the Super Pack has a normal value of over $200, so I guess that makes it a pretty good deal....

Capcom has announced that the Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network version ofStreet Fighter III: Third Strikewill hit on August 23. Arguably one of the best fighters ever,Street Fighter III: Third Strikelooks like it’ll be making a seamless transition to current-gen consoles. Capcom’s adding a ton of extras, as well as online play (hence why it’s being referred to as theOnline Edition). If you call yourself a fighting game fan, you’re going to buy this day one, no questions....
