Could it be? An impending $100 price cut for Sony’s PlayStation 3? If Circuit City are to be believed, it looks like it’s happening right after next week’s E3 events. According to Speedy, a reliable ad/deal hunter over at theCheap Ass Gamer forums(registration required), Circuit City have advertised a “price break” for the PlayStation 3 60GB SKU, bringing the price down $100 to $499.99. The new chapter to theDead Fantasybrawl is out and it’s a lot better thanDead Fantasy III. I’m a big fan of fight scenes with multiple characters (FOXX-Mencartoon FTW!) and the last episode really didn’t really pull me in like the episodes before it did. The new chapter, though, brings back the crazy large fights thanks to the clones of Kasumi and some awesome summon creatures from Yuna. Also, it helps a lot that the music is from the opening credits ofFinal Fantasy VIII....

When the PSP was first made available, it should be no surprise to anybody that the game I chose to debut on my own shiny purchase wasDynasty Warriors. Taking Koei’s button mashing hackstravaganza out and about with me sounded absolutely perfect, but sadly, it was not to be. While a somewhat decent game, the PSP version ofDynasty Warriorsfelt lackluster and didn’t really impress. Rather than the huge battlegrounds of the console games condensed onto the portable screen, we were given a series of small skirmishes that were accessed via a “tactical” map....

Last fall, I downloaded the PlayStation Network demo of EA Sports’NHL 08, and while it was only one period of hockey between the 2006-07 season’s Stanley Cup combatants, the Anaheim Ducks and the Ottawa Senators, I fell in love with the game. I’ve always loved a good hockey game — from EA’s Genesis classic,NHL 95, to Sony’s oldNHL FaceOffseries on the PlayStation, all the way through toNHL 2002from EA on the PS2, which was the last hockey game I bought — and that demo brought the fun back....
After yesterday’s deluge ofDragon Quest Xinformation, it has come to light that, contrary to original reports,Dragon Quest Xwill require a permanent online connection in order to play. According to Square Enix, only a “few hours” are playable offline. Anything beyond that needs the Internet. Furthermore, the game aims to take its new MMO approach to a logical conclusion, with news that Square Enix is charging a subscription for the game. So far, price is yet to be determined....
