I had a chance to chat withUltimate Marvel vs Capcom 3producer Ryota Niitsuma following the announcement of the game here in San Diego on the eve of Comic-Con 2011. He was surprisingly pretty upbeat for a guy that had all of his surprises ruined bya leaked list of game characters. In our interview Niitsuma explains why Ultimate is a disc-based release and not DLC. He also goes into some of the changes we can expect for the battle engine....

Japan does some silly sht to promote their games, and Sega is probably the king of silly sht in Japan for games promotion. Take this new video promoting Nintendo 3DS gameSuper Monkey Ball 3D. It’s all kinds of insanity packed in a minute or so. If you can stand it you can see the various modes of one of the first games to use the 3DS accelerometer sensors. In the video, if you can take it, you can see all of the game’s modes, including the silly kart racer that looks familiar....

We previously told youabout the Limited EditionofShift 2 Unleashed, which is basically just fancy talk for “You pre-ordered the game, so feel special!” For your honorable efforts, you get three cars and a slew of extra in-game events. Before, we had screenshots of said vehicles, and now Electronic Arts has graced us with a new video showing them in motion. I like to think there’s some guy out there who refused to put forth the cash early because he wanted a trailer, not images....

I’m incredibly excited forResident Evil: Revelations, and I’m… pretty excited aboutResident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D. I love Mercenaries mode inResident Evil 3,4, and5, but I’m not sure about this stand-aloneMercenariesgame. I hate to sound like a broken record, but my main concern is shooting controls. Theysound like they’ll work great inRevelations, but inMercenaries, it looks like they have you’ll switch to first person when you aim. I could be jumping to conclusions here, as I’m only going by these two short videos, but from the looks of them both, all the shooting is done in first person....

Reddit user L33tminion found this video of a little difference between the Japanese and American version ofSuper Mario Worldfor the Super Nintendo. I don’t know why, but this just had me cracking up. It’s probably because it’s so hilariously messed up.

Sony’s new Japanese game teaser siteis simply a little tiny man walking in a huge desert. Slowly. If you click on him he speeds up for a bit, but then goes back to his slow march. It’s kind of sad. I don’t want a new, sad game, Sony. I want a new, happy game. There’s little in the way of hints here on this teaser page. The URL includes the word “desert,” but that’s the last hint we needed....

Bit.Trip FLUXis out in Europe, and I’m officially jealous. I’ve already played through the game to completion once (see thispractically-a-review for details), so I feel a little bratty by complaining about having to wait a few more days to own the game, but there it is. I’m a spoiled brat. I admit it. In the meantime, I’ll be playing this video in another window throughout the weekend as I work, just for the jams....

Maxis’Sporejust got its third patch, the cleverly titled “Patch 3,” which fixes the following bugs: Additionally, to make it seem less like a “we fixed some broken crap” update and more of a “really neat new stuff for you” update, they’re throwing in 24 free exoskeleton limbs for the Creature Creator. Presumably, now you can create that guy you see in the header....

Square Enix has today announced the next long-awaited game in the Hitman series, Hitman: Absolution. The new adventure for everybody’s favorite chrome-domed killer sees Agent 47 betrayed by his allies and on the run from police. Naturally, there’s a sinister conspiracy in the works and it’s up to the Baldy Man to crack its blackened heart. “For the first time we are taking Agent 47 on a personal journey which allows us to explore other parts of the Hitman® fantasy,” claimed director Tore Blystad....
